However, I have had bad experience with ebuyer and prefer the John Lewis 3 year warranty to the slightly better processor. Also it looks nicer.

Can this have a hard drive added to it?
Dont think this one has a CD/DVD/BR drive
No CD/DVD/BR drive. Advised this to my mum and she bought 2 weeks ago - this price is £30 cheaper and comes with 3yrs rather than 2yrs warranty. She's happy so far with the purchase, though I may be having a word with JL!
US keyboard by the looks of it. Not an issue for most, but if you're writing software then the backslash isn't in the standard place, amongst other little annoyances.
I bought this just this morning after looking at loads of others and the 3 year warranty is what convinced me, the last two laptops we've purchased have had issues just outside of the standard 1 year warranty period

I would imagine not, since this is most likely a 2.5 inch SSD so it would be taking up the hard drive slot.
As a side note, I love your profile picture. That used to be my desktop background.

Does it have a TN or IPS screen?
No cd drive unfortunately, must have copy and pasted it wrong. I have edited the post. Apologies.
Bought this last month aswell, they had the option of it with Office 365 for £499 but i paid £479 without...don't you just hate that prices can fluctuate so much.

If you bought it less than 30 days ago give them a call and ask for a price match refund.

Does the keyboard illuminate, TIA.
Hot. Good for CPU, SSD, size of SSD, FHD screen, RAM and **3 year guarantee**. Make is just OK.

No CD drive is a big plus for me with laptops. A CD drive takes up so much space inside a laptop and it rarely, if ever, gets used for most people. If there's no drive in the laptop then the space should go towards better heat management, bigger battery, thinner device, and maybeee better build. So yeah it's good that this doesn't have a disk drive otherwise i don't think it would be possible imo.
Hmm this or the hp i5 on on ebuyer? Any insight? I dont know much about hardware. Both in the same price range. I would be doing light video editing, light photoshop plus word etc. I also watch a lot of media to. I think the i5 is a better cpu but by how much? If I get this AMD machine I get light 720p gaming thrown in as it has a graphics card. Does the GPU on this even out to the i5's better preformance on workload? Am I just wrong? Plus the 3 year cover helps. Feedback appreciated!

They're much for a muchness. CPU is better on the ebuyer one, but not by much. Depends if that CPU improvement is more valuable to you than 3 year guarantee.

I have a John Lewis 5 minutes away, so leaning towards this one as if I have any issues with it then it's a lot easier than dealing with Ebuyer.

I don't know much about laptop gaming. Always built my own desktops, but had a quick look online and it would suggest that if you plan on doing anything GPU intensive on these two laptops then the AMD will be the better purchase. The different in CPU performance is negligible, so I think this is a better deal than the Ebuyer one.

It depends on the resolution and quality settings of each game. To put things in to perspective the Radeon 530 graphics are described as entry level, which is another way of saying crap.

This isn't a bad video, the guy narrating does have a strong accent though, but gives you a decent enough idea of the performance you'd get and settings. The gaming performance is fairly awful, but remember this is entry level budget gaming >

Can't find anything online about whether or not there's an additional drive bay. I wanted to keep the OS/apps on the SSD and use my wife's old 1tb HDD for films/music/photos.

I don't have the exact model but it looks the same shell, mine does not have a spare bay. I don't think this one will either but of course I could be wrong.
Would this cope with Football Manager 2018? I know this doesn’t seem like a lot to ask but you’d be surprised. This is pretty much all I want it for for my hubby. Thanks
Looking for a bit of advice please , ordered the ebuyer i5 laptop for my son for Xmas but wondering if I should return and order this. He wants it to play roblox on and other light gaming etc not proper games would this be better or would the i5 one? Thanks

Yes it absolutely will!
I' be interested to see if the radeon 530 was any better than the integrated gpu in this a12 apu. An amd a12 has an integrated r7 gpu in it. My brother has an a10 with an integrated r5 and he can play dota2 1080p on medium at acceptable fps which is pretty decent. AMD integrated gpu's are surprisingly decent for the price you pay.

Also the ram on this laptop is likely ddr4 and the integrated gpu will make use of the ddr4 ram so should be faster than the dedicated gpu. Also not using the dedicated gpu will improve battery life. Seems odd to include a 530 in this setup frankly. Good laptop for the money guys

Been laptop hunting for a while now, bit the bullet and got this. Was looking for FHD, SSD & 8GB RAM for around 500. This has ticked all the boxes plus the 3 year guarantee. A lot of laptop for the money here!
Comes with free keylogger
It is certainly a good spec for the money, especially with the 3-year warranty offered by John Lewis.

But I have read a report that this processor can be unstable:
notebookcheck.net/HP-…tml

So would be interesting to hear if existing owners have had any similar issues.

An interesting read hopefully the driver updates fix the problem. This guy seems to have things running well. community.amd.com/thr…742
It seems after updating to the new drivers he manged to play fallout 4 at 720p low settings. Not very well mind but does show that things can work well under normal circumstances. Hopefully thats all thats needed.

I'd avoid HP or at least check whether this model has a keylogger installed.

Agree with you, terrible company. Sold me a faulty laptop and refused to refund or even replace. Send it back to me with 6 missing screws after opening it up. They also deleted the recovery partition.

Luckily I paid by credit card and pursed the matter with them. Eventually got a full refund from the credit card company not ebuyer. Ebuyer also banned me from purchasing from them! Did me a huge favour though.

Beware of ebuyer.

Just gone though your list and it is on there unfortunately. So if you do buy it make sure its up to date.

Although its not just hp its any laptop with Synaptics Drivers i.e Dell and Lenovo both have the same problem.
Apologies if this is a dumb question but if I bought this, is it worth buying a microsoft office software on offer with the £20.00 discount or are there cheaper places to buy it? I only need word, excel, powerpoint

JL have Office 365 for 1 year at £59. I think £20 off that is a decent price.
You do need to get at the same time as the laptop though.

Have you considered the free MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint Online though ?

Shouldn't have any problems with this. Merry christmas
Excellent price! This laptop was on offer at the same price during Black Friday I believe then shot back up to approx £600!
Sounds like a good laptop that most people agree on
