Can I ask why this has been voted cold? A sales person at a retailer like Curry's would love someone like me because they could sell me a total dud laptop and I wouldn't know the difference. I just want a laptop for everyday use that doesn't break the bank. However, I don't want it slowing down on me after six months!

When you go there again, after buying the laptop , with a problem they will not want to speak with you . They will put you on phone where you wait for ages as they try their best to get rid of you . Better buy from John Lewis.

I'm sure one of our experts will help. As for me, I'd end up with one too.
Heated for the price & spec, bought one for my mum last week.

I can't comment on Currys' after sales but I do know that they didn't manufacture the laptop, HP did

Does it have a backlit keyboard

No, afraid not.

Currently installing various updates but all seems ok, runs fast enough, more than enough for what my mum will use it for.

She's not into PUBG or Black Ops, I've tried

I would be quite happy with this as a replacement. It could well of been voted cold by people that want to only buy a laptop to play games on.You cant vote cold just because it wont play " X " in super duper UHD 4K blah blah blah.Well i suppose you can but then thats being narrow minded.Backlit keyboard would of been a nice touch but not really a big minus point.
I am afraid this isn't a great deal

4GB and 1TB SATA non SSD drive makes this COLD

Hi CyptoHippy,Im no computing whizz and wont pretend to be one,but in the spec it mentions something called Optane memory which can upgrade your harddrive to run at ssd speeds.First time ive read of this,Obviously it wont be the same and if you want to put in a ssd ( if your able ? ) its extra on top.But does this make any difference to performance ? or a waivering cold deal vote ?

I've actually had this with a mobile phone from Curry's - customer service is non-existent
Wouldn't this Asus Vivobook Pro be better from AO for £399 comes with the latest i5 process (i5-8250u), 4GB Ram and 1TB Storage. Upside being your getting a better processor for your money but looks like a pain in the neck to do a RAM upgrade, from videos I've seen laptop has to be taken fully apart to upgrade it.

Hi

Has anyone purchased this laptop ?

For the price it seems a good deal, I'm on the look out for a new laptop and wandered if it was worth buying.

Thanks
