Shame it’s a dual core i7 otherwise would have been all over this, good deal nonetheless
Replace had with decent SSD and that laptop should fly

HDD not Had
4gb ram, 16gb Optane, different things I believe...title quite misleading as it stands.
Says SSD on the specs

It’s not ram in the traditional sense though, it’s used to accelerate hdd’s (for pseudo ssd performance) rather than for core system operations. The specifications in your description even say it’s 4gb ram, 16gb optane...

@andywedge - please guide away!!

Title should read 4GB RAM.

4GB RAM + 16 GB Optane memory
Tweeked the title a bit. Nothing really wrong with how @apur32 posted, as it was all copied from Argos. Really, Argos should have made it all a bit clearer. But, to avoid confusion I've edited to make it more clear.

That make sense. Thank you @andywedge
Cant find this model number anywhere else - is it exclusive to Argos?
Want something I can get spares for later if needed.

Thanks for editing and sorting the title.

@apur32 I fully understand it was Argos’ mistake in the first place but it comes across as slightly obstructive to debate the error when questioned where it was clearly incorrect.

Says SSD on the specs

No it doesn't it say the ram creates speeds similar to SSD

It depends where you look, the specs are rather jumbled, on eBay it does say “Storage type: SSD”

Anyway, the spec sheet linked to by andywedge confirms it’s a 2tb 5400rpm sata hdd.

Depends where exactly you look in the listing!
Where ebay states "about this item" it states SSD. This is incorrect
In item description it states "2TB HDD storage" This information is correct.
Voted cold tbh. Yeah this is a sale price but the specs are meh in the age of Ryzen 3xxx and 4xxx forthcoming around the same price. And it’s HP.

Better deals definitely out there. The Currys/PC World outlet on eBay is definitely worth watching. I picked up an Acer Aspire 5 last week for around £360 with the 20% off code. Listed as refurbished but no signs of use at all. Spec included:

I7-8565U
8gb Ram
512gb SSD
IPS display

There was only one in stock but the I5 version is available. Details below.

This Aspire 5 might suit some better for an extra £30 with code for 10% off.

-Slightly smaller screen but IPS display.
-I5-8265U which benchmarks show it outperforms the I7-7500U
-Double the Ram (8gb)
-SSD over HDD although the HP does have Intel Optane to help boost the speed.

Now this one is just personal preference but based on myself and family owning HP laptops and printers I'd give them a miss. Unfortunately they've been quite problematic. Maybes we've just had bad luck.
Another anecdote of HP gear being rubbish. This does not surprise me. I cannot bring myself to purchase or recommend their tech.

I find it irritating that:
1: Pepper Expert Program under threat of quotas posts such rubbish.
2. Somehow the rubbish gets voted to 300+
3. Bona fide deals often don't get that hot.
I only look at new now, as hot is no longer a reliable measure.
Ruined this sire.

I know new seems to be the best bet now. I don't understand how this gets so much heat. A very quick search brings this HP up, pretty much the same machine with latest I5 10th gen processor and SSD for £20 quid less. It's mad!
