‘No optical drive’ £400
Me: Go to hell
FYI, anyone getting windows 8 can still upgrade to Windows 10 in a legal and legitimate way, though it is ethically a bit ropey. Google assistive technologies upgrade to Windows 10 🏾

‘No optical drive’ £400Me: Go to hell

Not many have an optical drive these days.
Meh, only 4gb of ram, no optical drive either, i got my 7520u with 8gb ran and optical drive although not a full hd screen for same price this year January.

I would happily trade off a full hd screen for 8gb ram and optical drive since the screen is decent and the optical drive now houses the 1tb hard drive and SSD has replaced main hard disk.

Still have some heat though, not bad if you're not a power user

Who would prefer an extra 500g to their laptop instead of buying a £30 external USB optical and use it only when needed?
Who uses an optical drive these days? Plus you can pick one up for like 20-30 quid. Processor and screen is much more important than ram (which is upgradeable) and an optical drive which you can easily purchase

This laptop is actually pretty decent spec. 8th gen cpu and full HD screen for 400 quid, heat from me

Nightmare to upgrade though. About 25 screws and you got to prise open the case without damaging it.

decent CPU, benchmarks better than Haswell desktop i5 processors

i think its a fairly good deal, but an SSD would be more appreciated. voted hot

edit

also comes with 'achieve' pack, including games and software

Nothing really ethical about it in my mind as Microsoft want everyone using Win10, I'm sure they left this 'loophole' wide open without a technical reason for OEM sellers to get annoyed at MS for still giving it away for free. You can also still use a W7/W8 product key to install Win10 so no upgrade required, just a legit product key.

As to this deal it's OK but really an SSD should be mandatory for anything these days

Except the loophole is about to close - you only have until the end of the year.

On top of which you also need to break the seal on many laptops now - once that is done, many of the manufacturers will say you've invalidated the warranty.
heat just for it being in Speke retail park, round the corner from me

I thought was good deal cause i7 7th gen 8gb ram for £500 but then this with better processor but 4gb for 100 cheaper and that other one got like 1000 plus heat isn't it worth 4gb for £100 cheaper ?

good to know, I imagine the Win10 new install setup will still continue to accept W7/W8 licence keys so that's the alternative to upgrading for free until they stop that, if ever.

There is no such thing as a 7520u cpu.

And the 8250u destroys the fastest 7th gen 'U' processor.

Hi mate.

Would you mind sending me a link where I could get a laptop with that processor and a 256gb SSD for just about £400 please?
My sons looking for one. Maybe one as you suggest one that he can upgrade easily without having to put a new hard drive in it etc, as wouldn't have a clue how to do that. Needs to be full HD too.

You seem to know more about it than me.

Thanks in advance.
I don't get why this is cold....a 8th gen I5 Laptop for under £400, its a steal and its available online
