Seems like a solid price for sub £200 considering the screen size and specs. Resolution is only 1366 x 768 but for this much you can't complain.

AMD = a mad decision. Cold this couldn't run Solitaire

With a passmark of 2373 this is faster or as fast as equivalent Pentium/Celeron CPUs.

For example this £319 HP with a Pentium N3710 the passmark score is 1934.

Good deal for a very basic laptop. Great for kids and people who don't really game or edit photos/audio/video much. Ignore the people who think £600 is a good deal for a basic laptop just because omg it has sssssddddd and 1080p res, even if it only comes with a mobile processor.

At £199, not for a while yet I'd guess.

Passmark this passmark that, those tests dont accurately show real world cpu useage, as said earlier it would lag running Solitaire if you had a browser open too with a couple of tabs, absolute junk

So you used a laptop with this exact same spec and it couldn't run a web browser and solitaire at the same time is what you're saying and you didn't think your laptop was broken.

I had a laptop last Saturday in for repair with 16GB DDR3 and an i7-4710HQ and it was hopeless, absolutely lagging like crazy, the RAM and HDD tested OK, the HDD was being using 100% in Windows so I had to jump through hoops to make Windows 10 work properly.

If someone buys this laptop and loads it up with Windows 10 and a bunch of anti-virus and other monitoring tools then start smashing open 20 tabs in a browser then it probably will struggle. But if buying for young kids to use / abuse I'd call this option "damage limitation". 1TB is quite capacious at this price point too.

Synthetic benchmarks aren't always reflective of real world performance this is very true, in much the same way car manufacturers quote misleading economy and power figures. Even if they don't blatantly cheat these they are still often misleading.

It's not for enthusiasts or power users. In the same way Peugeot's generally aren't bought by car performance enthusiasts. But there are still a load of them on the roads. You pays your money, you makes your choice.

While on paper they appear closely matched. In real world usage on an entry level machine single core performance is likely most important. This is where the AMD product is over twice as fast.

While Intel fans will point out that it is not comparable pitting a low power Intel part against a full fat AMD part. At the end of the day at this level it is who can provide the most performance per pound spent. Today is AMD's day.

Damn how we going to explain this to all those Peugeot RCZ owners. Ah well let the crying begin!
If it doesn't come with windows then why are they misleading with the images!

Hi,Just to know,why no to 1366x768 please?

Hi,
Because your smartphone probably has a better resolution.

1080 panel costs approx £10-£15 more not DOUBLE price.

Windows is terrible at scaling.

I only make these comments on 14" or larger screens.

You really have to see 1366 v 1920 screen side by side to appreciate the difference.

Especially on budget laptops I think 1920 makes all the difference as you will most probably have slow CPU, small RAM and slow disk, so at least a decent quality non pixelated screen can make the whole experience bearable.
