Not the cheapest this has ever been but can't find anything with this spec at this price. Will play most games at average settings as GDDR5 obviously helps!

Intel Core i5-6300HQ CPU
8GB DDR4-2133 SDRAM
128GB M.2 SSD
1 TB 7200 rpm SATA hard drive
Nvidia GTX950M 2GB GDDR5

Hey OP, check this deal hotukdeals.com/dea…253

Slightly inferior CPU but I would say it's negligible. Not as pretty either. Depends on your preferences.

I am looking for a gaming laptop about £700,this one looks the same

that costs more when you spec it the same.

At this price my choice would be the Dell Inspiron 7559.

Same i5-6300HQ
8GB RAM
256GB SSD
4GB 960M GPU

Bigger SSD and far better GPU for an extra £80 imo is worth it. The 960M has between 10-60% better framerates depending on the game. If you're looking to game, it would be mad not to make the jump up.

Tesco ax014na has an SSD and HDD, the JL ax009na just has HDD, no SSD. The ax009na still seems decent price, especially with the JL 3yr warraty.

Sorry cold from me. Lenovo 700 with better GPU, and 4 GB more memory for only £699 from John Lewis.

Isn't the gpu on the Lenovo DDR3, which is quite a bit inferior to GDDR5 which the HP has???

I can only find one site which says it's GDDR3, so you may be right. Nvidia says it could be either as well. Lenovo doesn't list the memory type which also doesn't help.

The 700 does have 4 GB GPU ram though. So I guess it would depend if any games take advantage of more than 2 GB Ram to make it worth it.

negligible difference between a HQ and a U?

I'm glad that you changed your mind and decided to vote hot.

Cold votes really make no sense! I appreciate that there have been cheaper deals in the last few weeks, but can't see anything that matches this spec on the market at the moment!

All the examples that have been mentioned are either more expensive, or slightly inferior laptops for a little less money. The meaning of the word "deal" is lost

I just disagree with spending that on a gaming laptop, not the price of it as much as a product and the fact that an m.2 drive in a laptop is next to pointless in terms of usage when a simple SSD will do. No i'm not joking, I see no need when the iops aren't going to be fully utilised for it. the John lewis HP is a better deal but still prefer desktop imo

No, HQ's are MUCH more powerful than U's.

Yup, 4 cores rather than 2, so much faster for anything that will use them. Will run hotter though when working hard. and use more power

The M2 form factor those is more space efficient, which is useful in laptops.

Yes a desktop is better in term sof bang per buck, upgradebaility etc. but people generally buy these because they want laptop for various other reasons *which is why i have my eye on the JL one for daughter (already have a 500GB SSD waiting for a home sitting here on my desk)
