Hi guys i'm looking for a decent laptop or my kids 300 pound max budget or each of the two laptops, do people think this would be a decent choice they want to play a few games. Also it would be for Christmas so not sure whether to wait for a better laptop later in the year. Thanks

What games are we talking about here? Are you're kids huge gamers or just casual gamers?
If it's for Christmas there may be some big sales closer the time, but you can never be certain.
This is a £400 laptop for £299.97 remember that, so it's a good deal.

Thanks for the reply they are into minecraft and a few of the free to play shooters on steam etc maybe more demanding stuff if i grab it in bundles. Yeah i was not sure if anything better would come along at this price ready for Christmas as it's still five months away. I've seen similar spec i3 deals not sure how this compares to the integrated graphics on the i3

Well this would play Minecraft on max settings no problems.
More demanding games will struggle abit but will still play smoothly if you just drop the settings in game.
I don't want to tell you to get the laptop just incase a better deal arises nearer the time but this a good price.
Final decisions all on you my friend!

Yeah i appreciate the help just hesitating on pulling the trigger just comparing it to the Intel 4400 integrated and this performs quite well.

Down from £399.99

Usual misleading marketing rubbish. Volatile google cache shows this item has been reduced by £30 from £329.97
Still a decent price for this model, if this model floats your boat. Amazon / Box will lift you £349.

There's always one.

Out of curiosity what is your laptops screen resolution and how much did you pay for it and if it is still available can you link it please. Genuine question as I am in the market for a decent laptop to play Football Manger on.

Hi, do you think this laptop will run Football Manager and Euro Truck Simulator 2 fine mate? Need a new laptop that can run these games, looks good to me so far.

Good deal!

I'm looking for a new laptop for my son also that can handle championship manager, sims city, Minecraft and such like, would this fir the bill do you think?

I have an older version of this laptop with the integrated graphics, and it runs multiplatform games about the same as an xbox 360, e.g. GTA4 runs at approx. 50fps, L4D2 and portal 2 run about 60 or so. I would guess that this laptop would have absolutely no problems with any of the games mentioned by people above this post. I would also say that I chose the AMD APU over intel integrated graphics because I needed half work and half play, and the boost to gaming with AMD more than made up for any slight CPU shortcomings.

ETS and Sim City should run on medium settings just fine. Minecraft is all down to what you're running with it but it should handle most mod packs and vanilla alright. This is not a gaming laptop, no future proofing at all, you'll find it nearly impossible to run most of last years releases, nevermind this years.

Will ot play the new Sims?

how would this fare at rendering or video editing? its for a student on a budget

I would also like to know this. Just got myself a xiaomi yi action cam and trying to edit video was the final straw for my faithful old laptop.

Would this play manic miner?

And that's a big me too from me :-) - specifically how it would cope with photoshop, humongous excel files and also for php/mysql dev work with some fairly hefty data crunching. Would the HDD be swappable or is there space for an extra SSD drive to put the OS and major apps on?

£Pound for £Pound AMD does tend to outperform Intell still .....

I'm completely incapable of understanding the technology, my only question is can this run Football manager 2015 smoothly?

Love a nice straight forward answer for us non techies

Based on my experience of an HP Pavillion laptop I'd beware of any deal for these laptops. Changing the HDD is a bit of a joke compared to all other laptops I've owned - it's not easy at all and I consider myself fairly ok with technology.
