most of your things are better like much better graphics card, your cpu is very slightly slower and you only have 16" screen with a lower resolution, apart from that yours is better, has gigabit ethernet, bluetooth 2.0 etc.

i already read your spec, your screen isnt as good and your cpu is VERY slightly slower. Your graphics card is much better, you have wireless N, bluetooth 2.0 and bigger hdd. I'd keep yours if i were you, you wont notice the cpu speed at all so only thing worse is the screen size and resolution.

Very decent price for the spec u are getting.

please UN-expire this, this never went out of stock!

What are Dixons refurbs like? (condition wise)? Dont really want one that is all scratched.

Original Poster

the posts i've seen say there is very minor scratching if any. lots of these are just returns or were faulty and have now been fixed, remember you can always return the laptop to your local currys store within 7days if u dont like it.

Original Poster

just got my tracking number for this laptop that i ordered last night:)

Please un-expire this mods and add an un-expire button to the forums, its ruining the forums not having 1.

whyTF are people expiring if it is not expired? this is a great price voted HOT

Original Poster

possibly a person who created a slightly worse deal than this, some people on this site are childish but the owners are being more childish by not having an un-expire button or at the very least a "request un-expire" which could send an email to the moderators to check it.

I'll take some 10mp photos of the laptop once it arrives and put them on here:)

Hajj I can appreciatte your effort trying to put all the details in this thread and all the specs and everything and also trying to get people to look at your thread instead of the original.

Not sure what you are gaining from that.

I am pretty sure everyone in this forum knows that Currys, PC Worlds and Dixons are the same company so a deal posted with one of this stores, 99.99% of the time apply to all of them.

I will not accept you insulting me and saying "..possibly a person who created a slightly worse deal than this, some people on this site are childish ..". A deal is a deal and basically it means making people aware of something at a good price, adding the specs, pictures, etc is secondary. I was at work when I created the post and did not have much time to put it all nice like probably yours is. But at least I made people aware of this and many probably appreciated the information.

If you had a bit of common sense and really wanted to help and inform people you could have put this information in the original thread rather than opening a duplicate.

I am almost sure that you bought this laptop thanks to my post, I have no idea what are you trying to achieve by hijacking or duplicating a thread. We are all here to help others and not to compete for deals.

I am reporting this thread and asking them to expire it. At the end of the day is a duplicate post whether you like it or not.

If this really means that much to you then let me know and I expire mine and you keep yours. It does not make any sense whatsoever to have to active deals for the same thing.

Same deal available elsewhere, however whilst the details are identical the fact is that they're different retailers.

Props to asandino for the original spot

Original Poster

actually i didnt hijack your thread, this deal was posted 3 weeks ago but went out of stock, i've checked the currys site daily waiting for it to come in stock. If anything your thread is a hijack of the 1 posted 3 weeks ago, you should have just got the old thread un-expired.

This thread is cheaper at currys and has a direct currys link, info about 4% cashback and full detailed specs therefore much better.

TBH I agree with asandino. In the "original" thread, you continually say "look at my thread". It's embarrassing. I can't believe people are so childish over the deals on here. This place is about pointing out good deals to us all. Now people are going to have to post 3 x the info (one for each sub part of the same company) to stop duplicates, when most just want to make people aware of the bargain.

repped

Original Poster

not sure why you are repping it, if you check the thread made 2 weeks ago i posted in there ( hotukdeals.com/ite…e=2 ), i didnt hijack a deal as i found it myself. original thread had spelling mistakes in title, no direct link (still doesnt), no info about cashback, no proper specs, this thread has all of that. I gain nothing from having this thread, just wanted people to know of a cheaper deal at currys which is what this site is about. The other thread didnt have currys in title or anything, you added that later.

If i can save people some money by posting this thread then i've helped some people, if you dont want cheaper deals then this site isnt for you. Not all people read all the comments in threads, they like all the info to be in the main post so people may not have even seen the details i posted if i made a reply in that thread.

Someone expired the thread when they blatently knew the deal was still on.

I'll post photos of the laptop in here once i receive it (hopefully tomorrow).

Repped you Hajj3. thanks for this post and yes please do post pics!

To be honest if hajj didnt post this a few days back i would not have paid attention to the other expired thread, because it is EXPIRED.

can we all stop having a go at each other and calling each other childish when the main point is we got to see the deal and those of us who wanted got to order. anyone now debating why and who posted what is very childish, no wonder so many newbies get scared and don't post deals, chill out please!

you'll be able to uninstall it via control panel - add/remove programs.

laptop arrived today, came with psu, remote control, some warranty kind of leaflet, battery to manually insert. 1 very small screen on screen, everything else was perfect. Here's some photos i have taken:

My keyboard works fine.

yeah mine didnt have instructions, was a safety leaflet. I got 3 remotes in my box hehe, not sure why:

i43.tinypic.com/ou1…jpg

my touchpad and buttons stop working randomly which is pretty annoying, xp wont install for some reason, i get a bsod after ages of the bootable xp disc trying to load which is a shame. windows 7 works perfectly tho, would have liked to have had xp on aswell tho.

No remote with mine. They state it doesn't come with one, or as far as they can see. They're gonna get someone to ring me from HO. Doesn't look hopeful.

Is there any way to navigate back and forth on Firefox on this machine without having to scroll to the button on the screen?

They're now sending me out a 3rd party compatible remote. Bit of a change of tune, happy with that!!

been following this thread closely.
i have found this
currys.co.uk/mar…id=

thats a huge link. hope it works. it seems really good spec for the price(plus the £15 off code)
refurbished and they give very little details such as no model number so i cant search it online for reviews.
what you guys think? i almost ordered it but decided to consult you lot first

little nervous, perhaps there is only one and someone will nick it from me now. ahwell

(if the link doesnt work, its the acer refurbisher laptop at £340)

Well I think I'm a lucky one then, as this one is great (minus the remote for a short time).

This is a brilliant spec for the money. My only gripe is it's an HP laptop. I bought one last year and it's not very good, the wireless unit stopped working (very common for the model I bought, according to some Googling) and now it's having problems shutting down and starting up.

If it was any other make but HP I'd buy it in an instant.

This laptop was £469 a month or two ago brand new, so voting hot.

Mentioned it in the other thread about this laptop, good spec but had nothing but problems with it (and mine wasnt a refurb). Sent back the first time cause it didnt work (memory issues), they sent it back and it had the same problems, picking it up for a second time now.

this laptop is fantastic, you sure get a lot for your money. retail on this is around £500

bonus to say you get bluray too

very hot

The odd shaped remotes fit into a slot on the side of the laptop. Do yours have a slot for them?

Not sure what you mean. Something like this? addons.mozilla.org/en-…/39

The Code Provided "aff15" Dont Work

Hi,

Can anyone confirm i can watch blu rays from laptop to plasma screen and can surf the web using the plasma as the monitor via hdmi cable? if so any bargains on hdmi cables? thanks And does sound also come on aswell as vision using hdmi

This laptop doesn't have a slot for the remotes. Yes you can watch BR via a HDMI cable with sound out of the TV also.
HDMI bargains on here somewhere from 7dayshop. I've got one from there and its great.
Yes that add on for Mozilla looks good, I actually meant that my last laptop an IBM thinpad had dedicated buttons that allowed you to flick forwards and backwards quickly and easily, so I was wondering if this had one, i think that i've found out that pressing Fn and Backspace moves you backwards a page, however it's still a bit of a task.

Mouse gestures gives you - hold right button and click left to go back, and the other way round to go forward. My last laptop was a thinkpad, don't think I ever used the buttons.

Shame the discount voucher has expired.Great bargain though
