No doubt you'll have someone complaining about the CPU not being very good.
However, if someone wants a laptop for general office apps, browsing the web, and watching videos/listening to music, there's no point in paying more for performance they don't require.

Totally agree, that was my reasoning for the above "not the highest spec but good for the average user."

Do you really expect a high spec CPU for £222 ?

This would absolutely fine !

Lost me and most I suspect at "Celeron"
Not a good deal with such a weak CPU

Don't understand why people are slating this? This is a good laptop / spec for the price, I get its not the best spec in the world but for £230 its a bargain!

Where else do you see a new windows 8 laptop for a better price? And for the average user its more than capable.

I need a laptop for browsing, photos, music and office. Is this good enough for that?

Please do more research as to whether it will run Minecraft - it's more demanding than it looks. My dad's g505s barely gets 24fps and that has an AMD APU (not that that's an amazing piece of hardware but more likely to run MC than non-APU CPUs).

Yepper, ideal.

Is this new ,or a refurb ?

This is new.

The more I think about it the more I'd be happy to recommend this laptop to someone who's on a tight TIGHT budget.

anti-glare screen for one thing but other than that, it has DVD drive so no unwelcome surprises there. It has USB 3.0 and HDMI - the sign of a modern laptop, even if not a particularly 'good' one. In fact, the only prob I have with it is I'd throw another hundred quid at the CPU, which is the whole point of this laptop, it has a perfectly good Intel CPU, just not an expensive one.

Except the keyboard is prolly pretty bendy and it has numpad which I can't stand and needs SSD and Windows 7 - but they're all like that these days.
