*edit* Lanc1979 found there is now a voucher code to bring this down to £284. (TDX-J4X7). Cracking price.

Posted the i3 version earlier this week from Laptops direct, it is now available for £249 from tesco. Looking at the sale price, this now seems like the best bargain.

Core i5 and an SSD for sub £300, can't complain at that.

Hi everyone, this seemed the best place to write this so everyone could read. Once you've set this laptop up, you honestly will be very impressed and happy. From shut down to ready to go, takes approximately 9 seconds thanks to the 128gb ssd. It really is a very quick laptop with no lag. I mainly use it for browsing, and modifying an online e store. So I'm confident whoever orders this laptop will be really happy with the value for money they get.

Good price. Would like to stick another 4Gb ram and change the SSD to 256. Wonder how easy would it be to do both on this
Shame it's not 1080p but you can't have it all :-)

Doesn't look too bad at all. youtube.com/wat…9cQ

Indeed. Honestly though, my missus would never even notice.
And it's the new 6th generation Intel CPU. Better battery life.

Both would be easy enough. About a 5 minute job to replace the drives and ram. The ghosting of the drive would be another 5/10 thanks to the ssd's

Did your wife tell you that your 15 minutes is actually 5?
I might get this as a desktop replacement. It has a VGA and a HDMI port that I could plug an external monitor into, plus I get the portability option when I need it.
Hot price for the specs. Personally though I feel 15.6" chunky laptops are a bit too much unless they're going to be on a desk all the time. It's a shame very few of the deals are for 13.3" or 14". Good spot though.
Anyone got any Tesco Codes?
Hot for price but are they still stuck together using paper glue? At work I went through 3 x HP laptops in 2 years, eventually they got fed up and replaced it with a Lenovo which has been running with no problems for 2 years.
Ordered. Thanks OP

They're certainly cheaper, though inferior processor on both. Why do you suggest better?

Ordered. Thanks OP

You are more than welcome - hope you enjoy it
Just ordered this for my mom's first laptop - thank you OP!

Better value for money and a basic laptop does not need an i5 CPU.
These CPU's are powerful enough for the casual browser and email writer.

if all you want is emails and casual browsing you might as well buy a chrome book
The processor is the engine of the computer, end of story.
Excellent find, thanks to OP.

I got one of these on eBuyer with a 500GB HDD for a tenner less. Have fun taking the bottom off to fit the extra 4GB RAM you'll undoubtedly need if you want your money's worth out of this laptop with good specs in every dept except for its stock-provided RAM. I saw the video on YouTube too and there's no way that was the first time the laptop shown in it was taken apart. Unless I got unlucky with one sealed so tightly you'll have to pull on the bottom of the case after unscrewing to the point you fear it's gonna snap in two but just keep going gently and it will eventually give and the rest is a breeze. 2nd time I opened it up to fit an SSD it came off a bit easier but there was still that point I thought the bottom might break in two. I checked with HP first if the warranty would remain intact after adding another 4GB and they confirmed it would but no more than 8GB RAM in total. When I read some reviews on eBuyer some people had put 16GB in theirs so voiding their warranties, but all reported great performance. In a few months of use with a 480GB SSD and 8GB RAM I've never felt it would benefit from more RAM. Maybe for gamers it would but I'm not one and this isn't really a gaming laptop regardless of how much RAM gets added to it. Great laptop though, I love it.

How much was the extra 4gb ram ?
good price

How much was the extra 4gb ram ?

You probably wouldn`t really need it with a SSD

No one in all the reviews mentioned lack of RAM.

RAM £12-99

I got this from tesco for £269 two weeks ago, (gf works there so got 10% off) it's a great laptop, it's quick with the ssd. I have been considering adding 4gb of ram but looks difficult to take the case off.

This one is using the old generation of CPU i5-5200U instead of the Tesco one which is the latest generation i5-6200U.

I rang them and got them to refund - they have a 28 day price promise. Give them a bell and they will refund the difference

ANY KNOWS WHETHER THIS MODEL OVERHEAT PLS?

Yes it will. All models can overheat.

does this model overheat in few months?

They all do. You have to clean out the dust every few months.

If only screen was FHD..

Then it wouldn`t be £299.

Same goes for "if only it had more RAM"
"If only it had 256gb SSD"

Th world is full of "if onlys"
