Thought this ticked quite a few boxes for anyone out there looking for a half decent laptop with 256GB SSD, Windows 10, 8GB RAM, display not too bad with 1366 x 768, 15.6" screen, i5 6th gen.

Also potential further £20 saving if you took up the Which? promotional £1 offer...

Its not really a deal breaker is it? AMD A8 with 16gb (Chug Chug) went hot on here a few days ago for around the same price. 1366 x 768 is nothing on a 15.6" screen.

1366x768 is bottom of the barrel garbage.
It's not just about image clarity but how much content you can display on the screen at once aka screen real estate.
1366x768 is so unproductive. You can't have 2 windows fully open side by side.

That vertical resolution was introduced over 10 years ago and needs to die. /rant.

On a 768 screen snap a web page to the left and another to the right. Then show me both of them at 100% zoom with no horizontal scrolling. That's the issue with 1366x768 on a pc but I'm sure you still don't understand what I'm talking about in which case you'll be happy with it.

I am not doubting what you are saying, I know you know your PC stuff i am just saying it isn't a deal breaker. I have a 768 screen with an AMD A8 and 8GB Ram (R5 Graphics :() and i do ok with it so i can imagine this is a good price for what is in it.

Fair enough.
If you don't need access to two programs simultaneously or regularly use a higher resolution monitor you may not need or notice the improvement.

Depends if you want to use it for certain productivity tasks like software or music development where more pixels/windows on screen are of benefit. Of course, you can always connect it to an external monitor for those occasions.

I think manufacturers have realised they have gone too far (for most people) now most laptops have big enough hard disks (by far) usually enough ram (even with windows 10) and the processor is fast enough for what they want to do. So, how can we sell them something which they think works ok, but then we can sell them another model which they can easily see, is better?
The answer is low resolution HD.
Voted cold!

What's the point of 720p on a 15" display?
I've never understood these laptop companies.

Cold. i could build a laptop using vegetables from my allotment cheaper.

Cold ... Apple? oO

Decent deal but the screen is pretty bad. It makes a big difference, even on smaller displays.

People largely ignore model ranges. This is the HP 250 range which is supposed to be their cheaper models.

Same happens in deals on small cars. People forever moan that it doesn't have the same specs as a 7 series BMW.

Doesn't make sense to have SSD, i5 and so on and go low budget on the screen only.

Companies should stick to Celeron, HDD and low res for real low cost laptops.

bought this one display rubbish look cheap as well still.prefer lenova yoga at currys

Isn't this the same model that made over 1900 degrees when it was £350?

Hi I wonder if anyone can help me out. I don't know much about these things but I think I need an I7 (without the U) or I5 processor, 1tb SSD, 8gb Ram and possibly some photo editing all for under £500, is this possible? I'm setting up a business and have a few 1000 documents, photo's and downloads, my old laptop had very little memory and couldn't hold this and my latest laptop is rubbish, very slow

Hi I wonder if anyone can help me.. I'm not sure if I need the HD screen or not, will it affect my photo's that I will edit for my website etc? I don't do any gaming, it is for business only. Other than that it does sound like a good deal.
