Seems a decent mid range laptop for below £450?
Lack of SSD is probably the only downside.

May be some better deals approaching on 7th Gen intels as Kaby refresh starts to land though...

£20 cheaper now, updated

Thinking the same. Might hold out, as the lack of SSD is a pretty big failure I think.

Blimey, hardly any decent laptop deals at present; cannot see anything with 256GB SSD and FHD screen under £500. What's going on?

Madness I know! I've been looking for weeks for decent spec laptop for daughters birthday (10 days away) keep wondering do we wait for Black Friday or perhaps look for refurb? Either way I'm rapidly running out of time

Black Friday does not mean you're always going to save money. A market research company recently did a study since Black Friday came to the U.K in 2013 and found 49% of deals were actually more expensive on that day. I think you would be better off pulling the trigger on a Currys laptop that's in the sale, failing that a refurb from laptops direct. I have had a couple of A grades from there in perfect condition.

I know you don't always save money but it seems that maybe the companies might be holding back on the deals this year! I'll have a look at laptops direct good to hear about condition as it is for a present! Thanks for reply

Lack of SSD is the only thing letting it down. SSD is like a must once you've used a machine with one. I can't stand mechanical drives now. Their only use is extra storage space.

Been trying to find a laptop with FHD display, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD and an i5 (6th gen and above) for about £500 and I'm having no luck so far. Usually there's one aspect of the laptop that's letting it down. Maybe I'm dreaming too big idk.

Looks a bit on the small side to me

Wouldn't let a lack of SSD put me off considering the other specs and G5 build quality. SSD is an easy upgrade and deals for them pop up all the time

Just don't order from Ebuyer. Save yourself a world of pain. Totally incompetent when it comes to getting your order right. Paid for a Saturday delivery but they put it to a 5 day delivery. Cancelled the order and still waiting for the refund from 2 weeks ago.

Seems we're both after the same thing but no luck for me either, this one of the better ones i've come across but the lack of SSD is a deal breaker. Likely wait it out until black friday and see whats available then, even if i have to go for something like this and upgrade drive myself

Bought this for my wife a month ago. Very impressed with the laptop and ebuyer. Great performance, good screen and weight. Will upgrade to ssd in the future. Couldn't find anything else with a similar spec for anywhere near this price. Pc world much more expensive for equal spec.

This laptop has the spec for general purpose use. It seems a good price. I have been looking at prices for a few weeks, and aside from PCworld instore deals this is as cheap as I have seen for this spec.

Wait till black friday

Just clicked deal link and it seems down another £10 to £ 439.98 inc vat Free Delivery
Seen these daily price variations on ebuyer before.

when this was reviewed a year ago on tech advisor it was £369 now its on offer for £449 for basically old stock...Just go to show what brexit has done in the price. These greedy big companies put their prices up well before the dollar/pound rate affected them.

Confusing review that one, mentions many different specs of the G5 laptop range and i believe they're reviewing an i3 model with a 1366x768 screen

With an Intel Core i3-5005U (dual-core, 2GHz) processor and 8GB of RAM, there are almost no creaky pauses as Windows 10 goes about its daily business

Typical of an entry-level laptop, G5 has a basic screen. It’s 15.6 inches across and 1366 x768 pixel resolution
