Good price, older i7 model though. So 2 cores with 4 threads, not a true quad core.

I cant see anywhere it claims to be a "quad core"

I assume they mean a lot of people see i7 and think it's a quad core, but that's not the case anymore.

Can anyone suggest decent 17'' laptop which can multi task for downloading, working on excel/outlook and sometime graphics Abode Illustrator (not gaming) around similar money?

Are any mobile i7's quadcore these days (or where they ever?)

If by mobile you mean the low-power chips with numbers followed by "U", then those have always been 2 core as far as I know.

It would be far more sensible if Intel just kept the i7 name for 4 or more cores. It's not clear to your average punter what difference there is between a 2-core i7 and a 4-core i5. The "U" at the end of the chip name just seems to stand for "Underpowered".

There are certainly plenty of decent 4-core i7 laptops around - like this one for example: hotukdeals.com/dea…678
