Given that this is a tn screen and poor cpu would stay well clear. The ssd is a red herring since this is the only bit that can be upgraded on most machines. The lenovo i3 for 329 is a much better bet even with a smaller 128gb ssd

According the spec below, this has a VA screen

The i3 is a little quicker but this has twice the storage.

Its a perfectly acceptable laptop for someone on a budget, a 256gb SSD will make it nice and nippy despite the basic processor. For word/excel work, some web surfing and email etc you simply don’t need anything better.

It is 60 quid for a 256gb ssd, given that it can be upgraded and that the cpu is soldered and the screen is difficult to replace with ips I'd go with the smaller SSD. But pays your money takes your choice.

SVA according to HP. Not sure if that’s TN or not tbh. Would agree that an IPS screen is better but they are not usually that good on laptops. We have 1080p TN screens on Dells at work and they are pretty good. Was looking at the Swift 1 which unlike Lenovo advertise this as being IPS. The colours are good but the viewing angles are not fantastic. For someone who needs the extra storage space and doesn’t want to spend an extra £60 or need the smaller size then this is ideal. This has an Ethernet port also which is missing on the Lenovo.

Sva =standard viewing angle
You have quoted a forum which is some guys best guess. I am telling you it is quoted on the currys website that it is ips and I have seen it in store it is ips on fhd 320s

Sorry but the reply is from a Levono support tech not any old Joe Bloggs. They are more likely to know what they are talking about than what Curry's are.

It may be that they have changed the panel sometime throughout production and that newer stock is now using IPS panels, but this was not always the case as back in Jan there was no mention of the 320s being IPS.
Still a TN panel screen though which makes this deal COLD for me.

The Teclast F7 for around £200 is a better deal, and you could easily buy an additional 256GB SSD for around £50.

SVA = TN panel. UWVA = IPS. It's just HP's dumb naming conventions.

Yes its marketing speak. It's not the end of the world though. Have plenty of Dells at work which are TN which look fine to me. The HP is a 1080p screen and has a 256GB SSD which is better than most

I can never go back to TN after using IPS.
Expensive Netbook
Think I'll stick with my Teclast F7...

Prefer a VA panel, better colours and no purple hue when off angle, but each to their own

The motion blue is atrocious on VA panels though. I didn't even realise they still used that technology (used to have the Dell 2007WFP with PVA.)
This laptop is like a pig in a wig and slapping make up on it, doesn't matter how you dress it......

There a link below which explains the differences in screen types for anyone interested. Depends on what you are looking for really..

For surfing the net this will be fine. This has a Full HD display (1080p) so images will be a little crisper than with a std 1366 x 768 screen.

Another laptop that is a good buy is this one: -
currys.co.uk/gbu…tml

This has a 1080p screen also but it is an IPS screen so will have more accurate colours and a better viewing angle.

This has 128GB storage whereas the deal posted has 256GB.

It depends on what and how much you are planning to store on the laptop. Bear in mind that the OS and a few programs will probably take up around 40GB.

The Lenovo is the better laptop, but the HP has twice the storage space.

It'll be crap. The screen whilst 1080P will not be crisp, but washed out and whilst it has an SSD it will still seem laggy and horrible to use. A friend of mine recently bought a different HP model with exactly the same spec as this laptop at Christmas and it's definitely a poor experience. I would avoid, they're taking the p*$s with prices of laptops at the moment.

Looks the same as the deal you posted last year
hotukdeals.com/dea…715

Would have thought it would be about the same speed as an Acer Swift1 albeit with a proper SSD instead of an emmc.

Yeah they're crap and I don't mind saying that my deal was a bit crap considering how potato these laptops are in reality.

Yes it's not the best in the world, cheap for 256GB SSD though, managed to find some reviews.
