Yeah I'm hoping what she does on it isnt! Hoping it's quick, hp was the dubious bit but I hear they're bit better now, this one seems to get good reviews
Is this any good for gaming?

Nah don't think so really
Cold no back lit keyboard

I bought her a torch to go with it tho 😁
Tbh I'm not expecting heat, but if anyone else has the same boxes as me to tick it's a contender at least.

Bad TN display and plastic built though.
Have you looked at this Lenovo 530s? It's more premium with Aluminium casing, IPS glass screen and backlit keyboard. An i5 is more than quick enough for your her anyway.

Yeah I preferred i5s for the budget but someone told her i7 & I wasn't sure enough on it to argue........I just do as I'm told sometimes for a quiet life 😁

Nope this doesnt have a graphics card

Graphics cardUHD Graphics 620
Does that not count as a graphics card then?
Ah ok, was asking genuinely btw. I googled it & got this snippet "Don't be worried. The UHD Graphics 620 is really good untill you are going to play most modern AAA games like witcher 3"

Thats the cpu's integrated graphics, not a dedicated graphics card so it wouldnt be any good for gaming might run some non graphic intense games sims, point and clicks etc tho
Users seem to like it: I've bought one for her so we'll see what she says.

Tempting to use as a portable PC but looks like the thing gets CPU turned down under extended heavy load.
I should've added cashback on topcashback....... 🙈

Hopefully it doesn't get turned down too easily, daughter seems happy with it so far
Seems expensive for what it is.
Build quality looks cheap. Have you considered getting her a second hand Thinkpad?

Had bad time with second hand laptop in past, plus she deserves a new one! She wanted i7, SSD, decent sized screen, I wanted new, 8gb minimum, more cores, from this site gen 8 seems way to go, windows 10 & full hd.
If I'd compromised on any of them I could've knocked a chunk off, but if you don't get what you want what's the point? Best contenders were found on here after I bought it but I'm happy with the purchase, & I still would choose the same one if I was buying today.

Good stuff. I hope it makes her happy, does it's job and lasts years.

If you haven't already you might want to check out the deal for the free F-secure antivirus before it expires hotukdeals.com/dea…009

If you can get one at a reasonable price it might also be worth getting her a second/backup power supply lead for her to keep in her bag, as it can be super convenient not having to unplug it from the wall everytime she bags the laptop.
