I don`t think this can be upgraded to win10.

pcadvisor.co.uk/rev…86/

To help achieve the low price, HP has installed Microsoft's new complimentary edition of Windows 8.1 with Bing. Without having to pay for Windows, HP was able to focus on just getting the budget components together to make a working laptop.

FWIW.I have some Windows 8.1 with Bing machines which have upgraded (free) to Windows 10.

I got a refurb i5 laptop with a 4000 CPU Passmark for £170. If you're willing to go the refurbished route just do an eBay search for (3320m,4200m,3230m) in description. In my opinion these i5's are on the bang for buck sweet spot.

Bought this last week for my daughter- upgraded for free to Windows 10 without any problems. Took a while to update though...

Refurbished desktop I'd buy as easy to service if things go wrong, but a laptop is another kettle of fish entirely.

This is good value, has a proper hard drive and ok processor and good amount of ram for the same money as netbook which usually come with 2gb/32gb emmc and atom processors.

This is brand new with a real guarantee too.

Cheap! Don't like the chassis though personally. Looks too easy to break what with those corners on the screen.

Also strange how so few USB 3 ports are placed on laptops these days. The laptop I bought in 2011 had 1 USB 3 port, that said it was twice the price.

It's just we're now in the era of USB 3.1 and thunderbolt 3.

ok deal, although may be a bit slow on iplayer, internet etc.
Remember you will need to buy Microsoft office if you need it.

Boils down to different needs I guess. I read these A4's struggle to play YouTube in full screen at 720p. Whereas my i5 3320m is actually 'editing' 1080p@60fps GoPro videos like a complete champ.

how reasonable (and available) are docking stations for these?

i like the idea of being able to set it up as a desktop for work in the study but have it downstairs for browsing but cant be faffed with all the plugging in cables each time!

im waiting for the day a full 1080p display laptop is under £200, cant be too far away now

Zero-cost upgrade to win10 no issue. Also mentioned as supported OS at HP h20564.www2.hp.com/hps…373

Well, once it's there, at this rate, it'll stay there for the next 5 years if 1366x 768 is anything to go by

so what you guys recommend for my needs which are net browsing, youtube/iplayer/kodi and for the kids to do their homework meaning the standard word/excel stuff. got a budget of £200 and would like a screen size of 15''+. Already got a netbook but its about 11/13'' screen so bit of a struggle to do some work for long periods. want a bigger screen so the kids don't struggle. won't be used for games.

Ok price. Poor build quality laptop- but you're never going to get any different at this price point.

If you do buy, make sure you remove all of the bloatware HP add to Windows which only serves to slow the laptop down.

.....Ebuyer had this very laptop up a few months back at £199....with a £30 cashback on top.

A very solid laptop, but does suffer from bloatware, so does become very slow. I recently ripped it apart and replaced the hard drive with a SSD....after only having it for 6 months!

So, i'm gonna put cold, as you could have saved £40 back in May time......

Voted hot as its reasonable spec for the price, however would still not recommend anyone buy one.
Its going to be very slow and i wouldn't say would have much life on it. Even loading IE is going to show lag.
Would recommend paying a little more and looking for something a little more powerful.
For 239 delivered you can get a lenovo i3 4005 machine delivered from save on laptops.

Ok, 2.95 for 2 working day delivery so ill update to 243 quid. I did say voted hot as is reasonable for the price. But would still look at something else. I wouldn't buy an inferior product just so i get it before christmas. But that's just me.

Is this really a good deal ?

Reasonable laptop for normal everyday use, got mine for £169 from Tesco a few months ago. Nice and thin but a tad flimsy. Upgraded to Win10 easy enough. Upgraded the RAM to 8gb, it handles GTA V fine, albeit on basic settings.

whatever, your antics annoy me now.

Good deal, and I have bought loads of things from Tesco Direct and they have been great.i was going to get something in PC world but the 'salesman' virtually REFUSED to let me out unless I bought a Macbook, the insurance and all sorts of stuff. If you can stump up another £100,they also have an HP with the A10 chip,8GB RAM which will give you plenty of grunt to run Minecraft etc or plenty of high end titles on low settings.
