I would pay extra to get a laptop with Thunderbolt ports and nvme SSD . …I would pay extra to get a laptop with Thunderbolt ports and nvme SSD . Plus 4k models are better as they allow you to connect laptop to 4k TV and watch movies and presentations etc on big screen . Also touchscreens let's you laptop as tablet .

Most people won't use Thunderbolt. Not sure what you mean re. 4k model since most modern laptops will connect to a 4k TV and output at either 1080p or 4k. You don't need a 4k laptop display to do that!

TN screen lets it down
What would be it's closest intel chip in terms of comparison? No idea about AMD unfortunately

I have the HP G6 i3 & it's absolutely useless

i3 or core m.

This is better however I believe.

Aim for a Ryzen 5 at least
Voted hot. But no Thunderbolt in AMD laptops.

Is this worth an extra £80 and general thoughts welcome on this laptop and VFM.

Cheers Sam but really don't need that functionality. Any thoughts on vfm given level of functionality it offers or alternatives?

VFM is better on eBay . Some rich people suddenly realise they bought the wrong product which they cannot return etc . And if you pay with PayPal , you have all peace of mind.

It's alright, only the screen is not very good and battery life not very good. Fast thought.

You mean its slow? Do you have an SSD?

It's much faster than a Core M... i3 is the competitor but you're right, we've had Ryzen 5 2500U for this price and it's substantially quicker than this Ryzen 3, twice the cores and over twice as many CUs in the iGPU. I wouldn't even look at a Ryzen 3 to be honest.

I dunno why every thread he says this. It's an AMD laptop so it doesn't have Thunderbolt and I don't even know anyone who even uses it, so his claims of 'I would pay more' need to be balanced out with all the stuff he's mentioned is totally irrelevant for the average user... 4K is still a waste of time. We have 4K TVs at home and am perfectly happy with 1080p or even 720p for viewing content, given that 4K needs so much bandwidth it inevitably reaches you in a highly compressed state anyway. NVMe SSDs have their benefits but not for the average user again so totally trivial point. Touchscreen on a laptop is gimmick - if you know you want a touchscreen you are already looking for one, you don't look at a standard laptop then moan about it not having one...

Wait for the Lenovo V330 if you can as it's similar to this but the same kind of price (or less) while packing the Ryzen 5. At the budget laptop end there are always going to be some compromises.

Just want to mention there is a Levono V155 with Ryzen 3 3200u, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, full HD and Win 10.
And it is £322

You need a 4K display to connect to a 4K TV...

.. people actually believe this?
