Bags are the worst

quality deal for the spec!!!

Good Deal, Nice find.

I Want This...but Want Extended Warranty

this is a good spec for the price, but the one reason why i would never by a hp again is because they get really hot to a point where you cannot put them on your lap anymore..if that doesn't bother you then there is no other reason not to buy at this price.

Nice one mate been looking for a decent laptop and this one looks like it fits the bill

I know what you mean. Prior to their merger with Compcrap, I had a HP, excellent laptop but did get hot. So hot I couldnt even touch the keyboard! I had to switch it off and wait for it to cool down.

I just missed out on that Vostro for £349 deal Always in two minds about HP though.

Heat added though as specs look great

I have four bags I got free from ebuyer and they are all rubbish, I bough the HP ones for the extra £8 - a lot better of a bag/laptop case

I was thinking about posting this one too.. Would be interested in seeing how everyone thinks it compares?

Might stump for this.....they have 198 left so no rush guys!!

I use an HP laptop, no heat problems here

With people's concerns over HP, how does this deal compare to this?

ebuyer.com/pro…355

How would this compare to a Lenovo N500 with the following specs?

Dual Core T3400 2.16GHz, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD, 15.4" WXGA, DVDRW DL, Bluetooth, Vista Home Premium

Would be interested to know as am unsure which to get?

I would opt for the Dual Core processor over the AMD one posted in this deal.

I bought this laptop back in January, but it was cheaper then. I only paid £389.99 - the price of this has been varying ever since. I wouldn't worry about the quantity, they always have loads in stock, its the price you need to watch as it changes regularly (up and down).

I have to say its the best laptop i've ever had, fantastic spec, works really quickly and does exactly what i bought it for. Would definately recommend! Hope that helps someone:thumbsup:

Hp offers their own warranty seperately to this on their website. because hp is such a good make and they have little faults over their lifetime they are very cheap! I paid about £60 for a 3 year warranty including accidental damage. often there is a 10% off code floating about which reduces it further, and at the time i got Quidco as well, so another 10% cashback (worth checking).

this laptop does not get hot. i use it regularly on my lap and no problems, as long as you dont cover the side vents

Really? Could i ask why?

I know the HP seems to have a better battery and i thought better processor but i hear such good things about Lenovo build quality etc..

This laptop has been this price/cheaper for months and months now.

Price has gone up £10 since the last time I recommended this to someone to cover the cost of their 'free' bag (which will probably be £5 worth of bag)

While I agree this is a good laptop for the price, the deal itself is not really a deal for the reasons above.

Bought this just over a week ago, and I'm well pleased.

Well spec'd, great build quality, although uninspiring design... but I'm happy to put up with that for the price

the core2duo can process more instructions per clock compaired to the 'AMD' turion so although they are relativly similar speed wise 2.16vs2.1GHz the core will be faster (I'd take a rough guess at 20%) in comparison

I'd personally get the lenovo you suggested presuming its in the same price bracket

The T3400 isn't a Core 2 Duo, it is a "Pentium Dual Core" Processor. Intel's marketing really has worked, because the Core 2 Duo is an excellent processor and associating their budget line with it has caused a little bit of confusion.

Personally, this is the better laptop.
It's lighter than most for one at 2.5kg

Got all excited until I saw it was an onboard GFX.. wanted something with a little more punch!

Great deal overall

Check out some 'tube videos that show the performance of the 3200, it runs a smidge better than typical GMA

how would this be for games, thinking about getting cod 4 for mine note quite as high spec, mine has 250 gig and 3 gig ram, any ideas??
thanks

good deal -- i also have had 2 hp out 2 pc s go wrong -- repair took 2 weeks to sort
that is bad luck -- maybe not typical ----any others have bad items?

Hi Peeps,

I bought this laptop a few months back when this deal was last posted. I had to change the laptop twice as it was faulty.

The first one use to fluctuate between high performance and hp optimized whenever you are trying to to anything on the laptop. Ebuyer would replace it having owned the laptop for just 4 days, i had to ring hp based in India and explain to them that i have a faulty laptop and require a hp DOA form to send to me, this process took 3 weeks and then i had to pass this to ebuyer , who then took 4 days.

I was then sent out a replacement hp 6735s laptop, when this arrived it would load up windows and kep showing be a blue windows dump screen. again i had to go through the tough hp procedures of requesting a hp doa form which took forever and then pass this to ebuyer.

The hp laptop bag isnt all that either, it looks cheap and fake.

Who those who have this laptop and is working great, but for those who havent be warned and buy at ur own risk.

Does this come with an anti virus? if not where can i get a good one?

I think you got the wrong end of the stick somewhere, the t3400 is deffinatly 'core' architecture and hence is equivilant to a core2duo processor in every sense (just not given the core2 title) the only reason its dubbed a 'budget' processor is because it has a smaller l2 cache compaired to the more high end model's.

**In terms of features, price and performance at a given clock frequency, Pentium Dual-Core processors are positioned above Celeron but below Core and Core 2 microprocessors in Intel's product range.**

The Pentium Dual Core is the lowest performance "dual core" processor available from Intel, Discounting celeron because noone should be considering buying single core processors anymore.

If you're using the word "Core" to describe processor architecture then sure you are correct, but AMD also have 2 "Cores". But in terms of SKUs and models numbers, the T3400 is not a member of the Core 2 Duo line of processors, it's in the class below. The budget segment.

But how much difference does it make to the average user? By this i mean to use it for downloading music, watching dvds, internet and maybe office apps and nothing really more than that.. Would the T3400 be fine for that and would the Turion x2 make a significant difference?

Ta:)

I use AVG which is free from Grisoft. It beat all the paid for ones and massacred Norton on the review a year ago.

free.avg.com/

Also I bought an HP NX6325 from ebuyer 2 years ago. Still going and does not get too hot. Infact I just changed the processor to a dual core. (I am not sure if it is Vista or the processor but the Benchmark has not changed. From the old Sempron 3800 1.75GHz to a AMD X2 TL50 1.6Ghz)
The battery died in the first 5-6 months and then the power supply split at 13 months and It could not be repaired. Not good for a cable to break. HP did not care and charged £65 for a new one so I bought it from a local shop for £40. Still a not inconsiderable price if it is to go every year or so.

I don't know if I would buy an HP again. I must admit I am waiting for laptops with Windows 7 to come out. The programme is so much cheaper when preinstalled. With vista the price of the software was 2/3rd the price of a new laptop. If you can hold on I would wait. I am getting a new hard drive to put Windows 7 RC on and also using as a backup drive. The Iomega 320GB from Tesco at £50 with delivery. The drive is meant to be able to come out easily and be put in a laptop. Clone my old hard drive onto it and partition/dual boot windows 7 and Bob's your uncle. A computer that should last me 6 months until Windows 7 arrives and then I can use the portable drive as a portable drive.

To be honest, I don't think there is much difference in the dual core processors.
I have an Acer 6530g and my wife has the Acer 5920g, mine has the dual core Amd Turion processor (2GH) and the wifes is a Pentium Core 2 Duo (2GH).
I havent really tried any big games on these but I did try 'Race Driver Grid' on both to see how they performed, and although you couldn't run on high settings, the AMD machine ran smoother than the Pentium, but also to be taken into account, The AMD machine has an ATi 3650 512mb video card, the pentium has the Nvidia 8600GS video card, I ran both cards on roughly the same settings for the game and they were pretty much evenly matched.
I wouldn't say the AMD Turion processor is much noticably different to the Pentium Core 2 Duo, it may be on paper but it didn't convince me, just my 2 cents worth.
And as for any heat problems, as someone has already said, make sure the vents are left open for the fan to do its job, if you are using the laptop for gaming, video editing or any heavy application work, its going to get hot. Using it on your lap or on the bed will sometimes block the vent and warm air cannot get out, cooler air cannot get in.
And also on this topic, you can buy laptop cooling pads specifically designed for this, alot of people I know that use their laptop for gaming, use some kind of laptop cooler or pad.

My Brother owns a computer shop and says ignore all the stuff about drive speed and ram speed and matching ram, it makes so little difference for the price you pay it is better to spend it on larger memory.

Lol, I really wish people wouldn't associate Pentium with Core 2 Duo and Pentium Dual Core with Core 2 Duo.
It just shows how entrenched into the mindset Intel and Pentium have become (although admittedly, the Pentium 3 was amazing at the time)

But yes, to the average user: I personally have always advised my friends and relatives (particularly my parents) to always buy north of mainstream.

Avoiding Celerons, (single core) Turions, Pentium D's, and now Pentium Dual Cores.
The reason being that most home users are with computers as they are with most things, not always so diligent and fine-tuning but still expect for it to work just as well as switching on a TV the first time and the hundredeth time (Just imagines if TV's stalled). But computers become clogged, and over time that processing power surprisingly becomes useful.

A T3XXX processor will start off very nifty but as with my parents E4300 lower-end Core 2 Duo processor (1.83Ghz) over time with actual stuff installed on there and the capacity of the HDD slowly being taken up, the speed/performance will really drop.

And even browsing the net, or editing a word document can become a major pain. Let alone video-editing or using iTunes.

A processor isn't like a watch, they're not all the same and not necessarily the more you pay (case in point with Sony VAIO laptops) the better. Just get the best performing on a laptop chassis that you like the look of.

so by the above statement and logic you would be better getting a t5500 rather than a t3400 simply because it has a core 2 duo badge.... yeh right

Heat added, got this same deal on E-buyer late last year. excellent machine, and I run Windows 7 beta alongside Vista. (dual Boot).

My one has only 250GB drive so this is an even better deal. 4GB ram makes Vista a breeze.
