I bought one of these today, got home and found that the price dropped around £25 tonight. That's the way of the world I suppose. Anyway, I thought that I had a good deal for a PC base unit with half decent processor, plenty of RAM and HD space and a pretty good graphics card along with memory card reader too so I guess for £25 less it's even better for all those lucky enough not to have been persuaded by their other halves that today was absolutely the last day they would put up with being without their daily surfing fix.

I added the matching HP 19" monitor for £117 (£10 off instore if you buy a monitor at the same time as a PC).

An affordable, attractive PC that delivers all-round performance and impressive ease-of-use, all wrapped up in a stylish design. This feature-packed desktop PC features powerful processors, high-capacity hard drives, top software, the latest security features, extensive connectivity options and great quality digital sound - all at a very attractive price

On the website it is £365 + VAT.

How much was it in-store?

That's odd, I paid £391.48 all in in store and just before I left to go there the website showed £391.48 on the product page too. So I guess there's either been an increase (391 - 425) or for some odd reason the VAT was knocked off instore. Either way it's a decent deal and first impressions are that this one is light years ahead of the Dell Optiplex that died, taking with it some rather important stuff too darn it.

Update: I was mistaken - the website price has NOT changed and remains £365.95 +VAT but the instore price is £391.48. You don't get the freebie instore but you do save the equivalent in cash so it's 6 and half a dozen. I've checked the monitor too and the price instore including the VAT is almost identical to the price excluding VAT on the website.

Looks like the personal touch pays!

I'll update the lead post to reflect what I've said here.
