Have heard the amd processors are a little slow in these
I have used one of the first generations of this chromebook, great value, solid machines. Not sure about the AMD chip now but HP is a good name when it comes to laptops and chromebooks.

Worst CPU ever made by AMD .
If you can stretch another £60, this will blow the HP away. Better in every regard. I had 1 for a year and loved it. (The description says it's not a touchscreen, but it's 99% a typo. contact laptops direct to confirm.)

15.6" display for a chromebook, a bit too big I am afraid. Chromebooks are best when they are as portable as possible. 14" is my limit, 11.6" ideal in my case. Appreciate everyone is different.

Yes everyone is different. What I don't like about CB's is that most displays are low quality TN panels. When I was looking for a CB, it was the screen on the Acer CB that won me over. I'm not a fan of LCD's in general, but on the Acer 15, it's fantastic.

Definitely entry level on spec's but you'd be surprised how little you need on a Chromebook, they aren't resource hungry like Windows or Mac. I had a 2GB + A4 for years and it performed perfectly well. Lack of touchscreen isn't a deal breaker for me, I have one now but hardly ever use the touchscreen, I prefer keyboard and mouse but everybody has their personal preferences.

If all it's going to be used for is homework/research and no specialist science programmes then it'll be ideal.
My bad wrong Chromebook!

I'd say so, most Chromebooks will suit most users. You'd have to be doing massive amounts of multitasking to run into issues. High spec Chromebooks are more about future proofing and high end users. My old entry level machine was great for browsing, watching and streaming videos, playing games and running android apps.
Thanks all, 11 yr old will be pleased at Xmas
Same on Amazom
Have one for sale if anyone is interested. 120
