Any sign if it was national ?

Wow that's cheap

Good deal, any chance you could post the stock code that is on the receipt?

Working link of proof...

dropbox.com/s/s…l=0

Damn if anyone finds these in a local store and fancies making an extra tenner - let me know!

Bargain if national, will be checking my local tomorrow just on the off chance!

The dates on the offer say 08/04/2014 to 21/05/2015.

I'm tempted by this, although it would just add to myriad of pointless additional tech in my house that I won't use or need. I've got more computing devices that I need.

I hate this website. I got really excited and then turns out it's an in-store deal.....

Does this do the same job of Android box available at eBay?
Can I install Android apps?
does it come with Google play store?

You can convert these into a box running OpenElec/Kodi/XBMC - forum.kodi.tv/sho…362

No, it runs Chrome which is basically a CHrome Browser and nothing else. Everything you do is clous based so stuff like Netflix, SkyGo etc will work. Anything that works through a browser will work. Some other functionality can be gained by add ons for the browser.

Get a cheap Android set top box and install Kodi if you want an excellent Media Server.
I got mine for about £30 from Amazon.

This will be better then the 30£ box this has ssd which is lot faster booting and cache the streams also more stylish and ports ... This will better

Hot

HOT if they can be gotten, may be tempted myself, however not needed although HotUKDeals has a tendency to tempt you into a deal / wild goose chase.

HUKD

Will definitely check my local stores tomorrow, recently bought a nas server, box like this booting into kodi, will be ideal

Banned

this can be hacked to run linux and turned into decent full fledged media centers. well worth it for £50

Thats a flippin steal at that price. Lucky gits anyone who can find one at that price!

Definitely worth asking the Mrs if we need anything from Sainsbury's in the morning, then 'accidentally' pop into PC World, as it's only next door.

Off to pcworld tomorrow, wanted one for ages, I wonder how w8.1 is performing

Better to buy amazon stick for £25 to use for Kodi. Testing it now and its spot on.

Pretty sure this won't play Sky go as google chrome doesn't support sky go sadly

Wonder how this stacks up to my 5 year old Nvidia 9300/Atom 330 (Ion) system for a HTPC.....

This is meant to be an immensely fast simple unit for web browsing, it can do other tasks, but that's the main premise of this device. Your old system has no chance of booting up as quickly as this box.

Sky Go requires Microsoft Silverlight this isn't supported in Chrome OS and Silverlight.

You might be able to get Linux running on this and use pipeline plugin project and Firefox. Chrome doesn't support NPAPI plugins on Linux and Microsoft Silverlight doesn't support PPAPI plugins (Chrome uses this).

In short Sky Go doesn't work on Chrome OS.

it uses openelec on an SSD, its pretty decent for boot speed 1 or 2 extra seconds isnt going to change much, and its more the overall running i was on about...

I love chrome os dont see why there is always hate for it, I use my chromebook c720 every day prefer it over a laptop doesnt lag only if i have like 20+ tabs open at the same time, other than that its great has plex, netflix can isntall linux side by side if wanted but I mainly use youtube and reddit and web reading on my chromebook

anyone know if u can use the firestick plugged into an hdmi lead with adaptor? my tv is wall mounted with no usb and the only way to connect (if it works) would be straight into spare hdmi cable with adaptor connected to tv and then plugged into wall

Not sure I understand your question. I have one of these HP Chromeboxes already and plug in directly via an HDMI cable to my wall mounted TV. It works a treat and is the fast internet browsing I've ever known! Stonkingly hot at this price

You're talking about using a HDMI Extender right? If so then yeah, you can use one although the one included isn't long so you might want to get a longer one depending on your TV setup.

Go on, you know you want one. It's only 50 notes. I'm tempted for a OpenElec/Kodi/XBMC for main TV.

Lol, I have plenty of devices that can fulfill that requirement already though. I suppose I could start buying more televisions next

not a fan of chrome (many people seen my posts I think!) but for this price I think its worth it, when a chrome device costs more than the equivalent windows device I think its a bit of a con, but you just can't argue with this!

out of interest can you install other os's on this, be interesting to buy just to play with alternative os's on cheap hardware!

Sure, it is 0000115412. Product description is 'HP CHROMEBOX TURQ'

Does anyone know what's the power consumption like in these guys? I am planning on using one as a 24/7 torrent box and kodi, debating between this and a decent android box. The chromebox would likely have far superior performance, but just concerned if the power consumption would make it more expensive in the long run

Get him!
