Do people genuinely still use HTPC these days?

Damn right there isn't a Android box that even compares to my i3 Ubuntu Kodi / arcade box. Even an Nvidia shield doesn't come close. HTPC ftw.
Was cheaper the other day, I’d just keep an eye on TWITTER10 code they randomly enable it and post it’s active again.

Yep it’s active right now. £67.50 use code.

Good find. When I bought mine it came with rear USB 3.0 ports even when the description didn't mention them.

That's good to hear. I'd be using it as an HTPC and the mention of USB2 put me off a little, Did anyone else get one with USB3 ports? Also can anyone tell me how easy it is to fit a low profile graphics card in one of these? How much space is there inside?

Easy to install a low profile card being screwless. I had 4 drives in mine at one point too.

Any good suggestions for low profile gpu's?

HP's manual says it has four USB3 ports:

I won't know for sure until it arrives.

The go to used to be a 1050ti. Decent 1080 performance, low profile. Need to be aware that your psu is probably only 350w or so.

1050ti on flea Bay about 125 quid, 1650 about 150 quid.

Bought one of these a few months ago. Decent machine for the price. 4xUSB 3 at the back (annoyingly). Spare 3.5" bay at the front for SSD. I also put a low profile fanless gt1030 in and it fitted fine. Possible squeeze to get another card fitted but I'm not using any other PCI slots anyway.

From the pictures, the rear ports seem to be USB 2, black inside, not blue.

Is there a full guide for this model? Any additional vga card needed?

I guess a 1650 would also do the job and its quite a bit faster for little extra cash.

Mine came with USB 3 at the rear..
I got a couple of the M83 i3 ones 2 days back, paid, heard nothing until i emailed them this AM and had to threaten them before i miraculously got a dispatch confirmation.. be careful with this lot......very shifty!
Can anyone recommend similar small/mini PC that comes with at least one HDMI port so I can connect to TV? Spec looks ok for what I want it to do, just run normal win10, browsing, etc. This one looks interesting, but being older tech, it lacks the HDMI... unless there's an adaptor for that?
There's loads on Amazon and other Chinese sites, but not sure how reliable they are.

Its just a stock picture, the 3rd Intel's (6300 and 8300 for example) do indeed have 4x USB 3's at the back. The the picture is most likely a 6200 or 8200 (2nd gen) which was all USB 2.

Just get a DisplayPort to HDMI adaptor/cable. Both carry sound so will be fine for your use case.

Yes, 1650 Low Profile is the new go to card

Some of the USB 3.0 ports on Dell & HP pc's are black, not blue.
I have a Dell Opitiplex SFF pc which has black USB 3.0 ports at the rear. They are marked SS.(Super Speed )

I know. Before buying mine I searched and found the same system with USB 3.0 (Blue), emailed them and they checked stock and sent me a picture of one they had that indeed had blue ports too.

Slowly going up in price but still reasonable for what it is.

Hello,

I’ve watched these itzoo deals the last few days but haven’t pulled the trigger so I thought I’d ask directly. With an SSD added this would fulfil my main reasons and the cheap end of my thread below perfectly?

If it cannot use the iMac as a monitor I can either dig out old monitor or some other solution so not a dealbreaker

hotukdeals.com/dis…802

Would I need to add the wireless card for errr Wi-Fi? It really doesn’t come with one already? (As these seem to go OOS quickly I’ve just skimmed before writing this thread so will go back after posting this to properly read)

Same with Win10? - £25 quid good value? Think I’ve an old Winxp or 7 lying around. Can I still upgrade those for free?

Thank you for advice it’ll be applicable to this or the next one if this goes OOS due to me typing all this!

8300 do have USB3 the 8200 don't
Does it have an optical disc drive? One photo has it and the other doesn’t...

You can get a Windows 10 key off Ebay for far cheaper than £25.
It's much better to do a clean install of Windows 10 onto an SSD rather than go the Windows 7 to 10 upgrade route.
Your SSD will run faster doing a clean install.

I just saw the size of these, don't know why I thought they'd be smaller, was ready to place the order before I checked the dimensions. I mean the PC described here.
I was actually looking for a mini PC, anything available for less than £200 that's actually decent in terms of quality and can properly run Windows 10?
I've seen the beelink ones someone was recommending, but reviews would suggest they're not quite reliable.

@rev6, you were also saying something about these mini PCs in the other thread with the android box.

Yes I suggested Beelink in another thread, they are one of the few proper branded ones.
Depends what you need them for.

Just get a laptop, smallest form factor around. Complete with a handy screen for debugging. Plenty of choice for >200 on the second hand market!
Does anyone ever did a return to them? I ordered lenovo for a previous deal but ordered this as well as it is better for a little more. Still didn't receive lenovo

It needs to be quite small, similar to my Samsung TV box, can't believe in 2020 there's no such reliable thing available on the market. Well, there probably is, but will cost about as much as MacBook.
They've made incredibly small HDDs and SSDs, but what about a small PC...
Just needs to be something that can run Windows 10, 1080p movies/YouTube without problems. Not so fussed about 4k, if it can run it, even better.

39694023-LefAr.jpg
I got one of these for £81 and thought it was a steal. It is a fantastic bit of kit, I run Home Assistant & Blue Iris (running 7 1080p cameras recording 24.x7) and the CPU sits around the 30% mark!
