The A6 is quite weak.

Last month, this laptop qualify for both £50 + £100 trade up, laptop was £315, after cashback £165. It was a good deal despite the weak A6.

£100 trade-up cashback no longer available.

Now at £280 before cashback, £230 after cashback for this A6. I suggest wait and see.

Wait for business laptop with i3 and SSD to £250, or i5 to £300. You can always buy i3 and SSD business laptop at £280 anytime.

Or consumer laptop with i3 to £200. Tesco had an i3 for £150 on Thursday, it sold out on the same day.

I bought this for £282 via flubit. Using the fireworks invoice, I claimed £100 trade up and £50 cashback which has all been approved awaiting payment. So had it for £132.
The processor in this is pretty weak isn't it?

SSD is nice but we've seen more powerful Intel deals lately for less.

Never had an HP, are they worth this apparent premium?
the processor is really poor slower than i3 etc

Agreed, not a great deal. There was an i3 recently with an ssd. These AMD cpus are just not great

don't forget this one has higher res screen and elitebook buildquality, not to mention 3 year warranty.

Got one of these the other month when there was the 100 trade up cash too. Processor is fine for browsing and office work, it's a business laptop and does what most office workers would need it for fine. Screen and build are decent for £300, outstanding with £150 cashback. Small SSD is great for most business users too
For £230 I'd want better than 1670 on CPU Benchmark to be a bit more future proof.

However you can upgrade the RAM etc more easily then on some of the budget laptops, plus it's a nice size, apparent good build quality.

Not hot for me, but depends what you want it for I guess!
Looks good price... Will this handle xhamster?
I guess its better graphics but this is half bench score my 4 y/o dell I picked for 150 quid

As far as I can tell, the graphics is poor compared to the recent intel graphics deals:

I regretted Googling that oO
For those that have previously purchased this notebook - is it terribly slow?

I'm after something for general browsing, but most importantly working on many word documents.

It is NOT slow, It obviously isn't a core i5 machine. If you use for playing dvds/bluray, streaming from all sources on full hd, word processing etc, then you will be very happy with this computer. It is not a gaming machine but for every day use, it is perfectly suited. I have only upgraded ram to 8gb. For purposes listed above, the machine is impressively fast.

Thank you, that's very helpful. I definitely won't be using it for gaming purposes.

No, it should not be.

It is an A6 + SSD, should be running pretty quick for your browsing and office.

It is just that £100 trade-up no longer available. Without it, the price is not very attractive anymore given the weak A6. At £280 before cashback, £230 after cashback, you can get better deals very often.

Yes, I understand this is a Elitebook, and I fully support HP business laptop.

By the way, not all A6 are weak. There are more powerful A6 in the market.

If it is an i3, the deal would be much sweeter.

You can buy business laptop with i3 +SSD at £280 anytime, but no £50 cashback.

Or you could go for this consumer laptop with a more powerful A6 6310 at £200. This A6 is quite reasonable, quite close to an i3 and better multi-thread. But no SSD though, 1TB HDD instead.

The £150 i3 sold out on Thursday.

Thanks for the reply.

Tbh it's the build quality and warranty that's appealing at present.

Do you have any other recommendations? I've had the Probook 450 in mind, but the screen quality seems to be a let down from reviews.

Thanks for the info. I definitely agree.

I've never really given acer a thought, but I'll deliberate further. All in all, i want a laptop that'll last a long time; not something that's plagued with issues.

First of all, this Elitebook has a resolution of 1600 x 900, Windows 7 Pro, SSD which are all good. It is only let down by the A6. It may be enough for your use though as you only want it for browsing and office. This Elitebook have better screen than Probook 450 due to higher resolution.

Secondly, if you are talking about Probook 450 review online, the review was from a particular angel though. The review was saying "The Probook 450 was at €800, at such high price, the reviewer was expecting a FHD". But you are only going to pay around £300 for it. I am pretty certain that the Probook 450 G2 with i5 will have better screen than any consumer laptops at £300 with non-FHD screen. If you compare few and read the detailed statistics, then you will be able to tell.

The other choice of business laptop with i3 + SSD for £280 is Lenovo E50. Three people I know purchased it on my recommendation, I have seen two of them, they are good quality and fast too. There are people who do not want upgrade their laptops, so i3 + SSD is good combination for normal usages for them without the need of any upgrade.

On the other hand, Probook 450/455 with i5-5200u give you more power and a M.2 slot, you could put an additional M.2 SSD if you wish.

The elitebook is 14 inch, from the picture, it does not have number pad. It is an disadvantages for people who need to use number a lot on a laptop.
None left in Crewe
Hi everyone, you can get this for £22 less still, £257.22 at Technoworld. Bought mine last week.
It isn't the smoothest running PC, I can say you notice the processor being slightly sub-standard, but nothing that I am outraged about. The 3 year warranty on both battery and labour is making me feel slightly better. It is very light too, but maybe that is not a niche with these kind on computers.

The numberpad isn't really necessary for me, so there are no issues on that front.

I did decide to take the plunge and order one; hopefully it will be sufficient for my needs.

Mine arrived today, and it's certainly attractive in terms of weight and design. However, two issues have already arisen; heating up within a minute of setup, and secondly the 3 year warranty seems to only be limited to the battery.

I'll be returning the laptop.
