Thats why is not a deal!! No SSD!!!!
Or, if you wanted a DVD drive and didn't mnd USB2 only connections, you could go for this (seems very similar) not sure whether you would get 10% off as it is in their 'sale' . Which is 74.99

Don’t get why you’re being so passive aggressive about it but given the price tag, the hardware, this is decent but its use case is pretty niche. If you’re looking for something like this, great. Some people buy useless items because of the ‘deal’ and I don’t think this is anywhere at that level.

Edit: I feel like I may need to further justify, but the cpu in here is pretty similar to the 3570. If you check their past deals, you get a nice ballpark cost. When I say niche, I mean it’s small form factor that people might be interested in. Also given that this is only 500gb, you could probably get a 120gb or maybe even 240 ssd for roughly the same cost as the hdd (or it wouldn’t be expensive to change) so idek what you’re trying to say.

As people seem vaguely up as I am. Perhaps you’d be so kind and say that this or the now back in stock £74.99 one would be suitable for my cheap end needs....

thanks
you could just stick a cheap ssd in and use the 500 as storage. (PNY 120 is about 16.50 on amazon)
I often wonder if people would consider these sort of units for streaming games like on GeForce now, shadow tech, or stadia...

Yes...... I bought a refurbed desktop which included both SSD, HDD, and WiFi connection. The processor was only an i3 but was more modern so similar capability to this one.

If someone can be patient, spend a little time on the internet, then there are better deals than this one.

On s side note I am delighted with my purchase..... way faster than my old desktop... which to be fair, was 12 years old, ran XP and had Windows 2007 on it.

Or stick in a low-profile 1050ti 4Gb and you get a Fortnite-capable gaming PC for kids for just over £200.
This looks like a great deal for how much it is. Heat.

How's gaming console a better investment than a PC? Computer will also let kids learn skills other than gaming.

for the reason you initially quoted 'to play fortnight'
I've bought a couple of these in the past and generally they're fine for general usage - definitely worth changing the hard drive to a SSD - makes a big difference. My only real issue with this model is the use of a 70mm CPU fan which can become noisy on these four year old machines and is not easy to find a suitable replacement.

Just built a cheap pc for friend under £200 with gtx 960 and i3 9100f which would have a much better upgrade path. I know building is not really an option for everyone, but once you start going over £200 I think something more modern is in order. Given this processor is about 7 years old now.

Good deal as it stands for what it is but not really worth upgrading.

For upgrades, although this i5 is a slightly better processor I would go with i3 6100 PCs with similar specs available at same price. being DDR4 Vs DDR3 and upgradable to intel kaby lake processor keeping same mobo, it would have an OK upgrade path.

Using a similar machine to this with a 1050ti. Surprisingly capable at 1080p.
Bought one of these with the idea of installing an SSD for the OS. Note that an SSD requires special HP screws to slot it into place - assuming you don't want to use BluTack - & these are hard to find & pricey. Many cases of people buying the screws that are for fitting an HDD. They look very similar but thread size is wrong for an SSD.

Agreed. Using this machine also with the 1050ti. It fits in comfortably and runs fine on the standard 240w Bronze 80+ power supply.

Screw sizes are different but usually there is somewhere you can mount SSds, they're not heavy so some are supported on my machines just on one side. they don't require cooling so can be mounted almost anywhere. You can buy a 2.5 to 3.5" adapter set for a little over a pound complete with screws if you are really fussy

I had a friend that used gaffa tape...I wouldn't recommend it myself, but well.
