Although the headline saving on this laptop at Currys is only a couple of hundred quid compared to the previous selling price, if you have a clunky old laptop you're no longer using, you can trade it in to get £200 off in store.

If you're willing to take out their buy now pay later finance with 9 months interest free, you can get a total of £300 off.

Additionally, if you have Student Beans, you can take another 10% off BEFORE using the £300 trade in allowance, bringing it down to just £644, which is a stonking deal for this very capable and very portable laptop with a huge specification for the money. Any UK student at sixth form or better can register for Student Beans.

I think the trade in offer ends 15th September, but this model will be out of stock again well before that date.

MX150 was good, I wonder what the 250 is like,
Looks good, although not sure about the ts and cs of the trade in (although Quidco have 10% cb on HP laptops at the moment)

Says trade in value issued on a currys PC world gift card, so would you not get it off the price?

Also, says actual trade in value will vary dependent on device.

Anyone done this before and can confirm?

Get £200 off the marked price of this laptop when you trade in your old qualifying laptop.Actual trade in value will vary dependent on device. Offer only available when you trade in store and continues until 24th September 2019. Additional guaranteed trade in values only apply against purchases of new Windows laptop or Chromebook over £1000. Trade In value issued on a Currys PC World gift card when you trade in in-store. Only one Trade In can be redeemed per transaction. Both laptop and charger must be brought in store to trade in. Offer not available in conjunction with any other offer. Subject to availability. I haven’t got a laptop to trade in, any other ways of getting a discount further on what looks like a good deal?

Also I’m looking for a laptop for my children which balances their uni work with playing some games at basic graphics levels. This seems a decent laptop which will last then a few years?
Only 7 days ago, I waked into a Currys store and bought the lower spec model with only 8GB RAM and 512SSD. I traded in a 2011 netbook and took out the finance. Because the lower spec model was only £999 the trade in was just £200, but because I was taking the finance they were less fussy abut the age of my trade in. The trade in value is NOT dependent on the device, despite what the T&Cs state. It's a flat rate. My son has a P/T job at Currys so we get an additional 10% employee discount. All the discounts are applied before the trade in voucher. They basically swap your old laptop for an in-store voucher which is used towards purchase price when you check out.

I'm absolutely gutted that this top spec model was out of stock last weekend all over the UK. We wanted this one because it gave a really good spec bump over the one we bought for just £20 more, sigh.

10% @ Quidco
I wouldn't buy this without having something to trade in. It's the £300 off trade-in with finance which makes it such a bargain. The lower spec model is still £999 but only gets a £200 trade in with finance, so this model works out £50 cheaper with a really nice spec-bump.

Just looking locally to me, there's a few Chromebooks for sale for £100 or less. One for £70. Worth it if you're getting £300 trade-in.

MX150 is quite good but HP used a downclocked version of it in the Envy 13 which made is about 35% slower. Ruined the graphics performance.

Go into store make sure you can get the deal, get them to reserve it or leave a friend in the store while you run to cex and get the cheapest piece of s**** laptop that will qualify. This is a killer deal, make sure your kids are old enough to use a relatively delicate laptop without dropping it. This will happily play most games at low settings and be lighting fast for general use all with an amazing screen..... While being a 13" ultra book.

How have people been able to tell if this is in stock? The website only gives move to store options but doesn’t tell you if the store actually has stock

I thought that with deals like this the trade-in old laptop had to be pretty decent so that they could recoup the costs by flogging it on to some third party?

I thought that if you handed in an old laptop with missing keys or dodgy whatever then they bung you just £50 or just say no?
MikeLondon08/09/2019 12:48

Probably because of the faffing around you need do to get the price? I'm thick skinned and don't mind the freeze. If it helps somebody to get their kids a spanking good laptop for the new school year at very reasonable money, I'm happy. I'm thinking of buying this one and selling on the i7/8GB/512 model we bought last week. With the double 10% discount my son gets, we could buy this higher spec model for £550.

My son says to check if Chromebooks qualify for the trade-in before buying one, just to be safe. ANY Windows netbook, Macbook, or whatever you have less than 7 years old qualifies without any quibbles, but many stores will turn a blind eye to the age if you're signing up for the 9 months interest free finance anyway. My trade-in netbook was 8 years old and they just took it anyway, nothing to do with my son being staff. They actually don't like making sales without the rip-off care plan, which we never take out. That's why we don't usually buy in the store my son works at; it hurts their bonus if we do!

The laptop doesn't need to be working, but you do need the power supply. They strip them down for rare metals, they are not re-used.

Must admit, I am desperate for a new Laptop and this would be perfect, I am however not prepared in any way to deal with the Morons who work in this store, even after you convince them about the offer, they will struggle to actually find stock, you then have to spend half an hour going through the credit part, and then constantly refusing extra cover and all the cr*p they want to sell you. There are too many obstacles and added to the fact you are dealing with lazy people who would rather stand about talking than do some work makes it a very bad experience for any customer.

It's such a good deal it's worth it in my opinion, and you are probably more likely to get this then a Tesco wild goose chase. I find that with Curry's staff you have to be persistent, and know exactly what you want, they are not technically trained. Stay away from the manager - usually the biggest c*** in the store.

It is a nice laptop, I just have a negative experience every time I go in to my local store, and that is for standard easy transactions. There are so many stumbling blocks with a deal like this, Just do not have the patience anymore for incompetence so will look elsewhere.I would love to be a head office manger for that place, I would make the idle useless staff jump.

After having a good look I think you are very much mistaken.
This only came back into stock online on Sunday. I imagine it'll be hitting a few strategic stores for immediate collection in the next few days. If anyone wants to risk re-posting it when there's walk-in stock around to give it a bump, I don't mind if this thread gets expired. By the looks of it, the trade in was extended until 24th September and my son has a suspicion that these are clearance stock, so 10% discount may be available from a 'coupon list' they use in-store without having to mess around with student beans. He's in work tomorrow morning for a few hours and can check that out. I'll also pass on those complimentary comments made earlier about how useless everyone is at Currys. I'm sure it'll come as a great comfort to him in addition to the pressure he is under (even as a part timer) to hit targets on service products for fear of geting the sack.

Use that 10% code and that would have been £513. You just have to keep your eyes peeled and move quickly as they sell out quick at that price.

You're just sour that you don't know how to use the search facility and missed out. Your loss.
The ones being sold by Currys were 2019 models with a higher spec and new, not second hand. You're looking at second hand goods with no guarantee on ebay and comparing them to brand new latest models from a high street retailer. No wonder nobody could find the same model as in this cold deal listing on ebay for £500; there aren't any.
Do you think they will get more stock on before the deal runs out? Been interested in the laptop for a whole and just missed out on the deal

I clicked the 'Email me when back in stock' button on the product page and gave my email. The stock seemed to last about 24 hours from when the email came in and there would have been time to go into a store and place an order for delivery into the store to get the trade-in discount. By the time I'd organised a trade in laptot from a family mamber, it was out of stock again.
Someone just posted a deal on this laptop, which is a similar specification:

Asus ZenBook Pro

Pretty tasty laptop, but £1,200 before trade-in and discount.

Clearly states Condition: Seller Refurbished, Clearly is a different GPU, Clearly lower resolution, Clearly not touch screen. No matter how you try and spin it, its not like for like. No one would accept this laptop if they payed for a new unit as per post. I don't know why this even needs explaining.
