Good deal but I’d hold off until the next gen of intel cpu

The next of everything is often better. When do you stop holding on?

Also has USB C ports and a separate power port, so you don't use up USB ones.
I would be interested to know how people think this compares to the MS Surface Laptop?

Has anyone seen the back of this new HP? The old Envy had vents/grills on the bottom, like the Dell XPS.
The MS Surface, like the Macbook, does not, so you rest on your lap and the vents are not blocked.

Why? This is quad core

Looks like a really nice spec to me. Latest gen quad core with a Mx150 that can handle light gaming, all in an ultra book for £760. Yes please.

It's good but a real finger print magnet when you have OCD for things like that as I do. Also think how many times you really will use it in tablet mode. I hardly ever do...

Any other considerations between the two?

Any other considerations between the two?

The X360 uses an AMD CPU I am led to believe this is more power hungry so a shorter battery life

good to know, as performance of the two CPUs is similar.

BTW, wouldn't the discrete GPU in this equally reduce batt life?

I really like the look of this. Am struggling to find out if the RAM and SSD would be upgradable in future. Does anyone know?

I have an MS surface laptop, its worked approximately 10 weeks and the SSD has packed in. Can’t say make me overly confident about the laptop itself.
i would say this is a very good price for the spec, currently using Dell 7390 which does not have touchscreen and the SSD is not PCie and it cost more (around £1000). Plus i think the metal finish looks better in my opinion.

It took them about 9 generations to go from dual-core to quad-core for ULV/ultraportables so you will probably end up with a slight clockspeed boost and power saving with the next gen only.

But why stop there? Why not wait for 10th gen? It’ll be even better than 9th gen - when do you just put your hand in your pocket and buy the machine you need? And what do you do in the interim? This is literally the golden age of the ultraportable.

Not unless you’re using it. It’ll run off integrated graphics when not gaming or actively using it - nVidia Optimus I think it’s called.

Very nice machine and very nice spec.

The 8250U offers the same performance as the 7300H despite being a ULV processor. Better battery life too. The MX150 is a nice addition for a bit of light gaming. 8GB is good as is the 256GB SSD.

All in all, a better buy than that Surface Laptop someone posted recently for the same price!

You're be waiting another 18 months or possibly longer then as the 8250U (8th gen) has only just been released and the industry is only just transitioning to the current 8th gen CPUs.

You beat me to it! The 8th gen was around a 50% increase in multitasking, doubt intel will make that gain on the ULV processor range any time soon. I suspect it was only due to pressure from AMD
Thanks for the heads up OP, for those who have access to corporate discounts (I use the perksatwork site) it's £748.00 with discount, unfortunately you can't use this code with it!
What are viewing angles of screen like?
This or the xiaomi mi pro?

A very good point , I have a 2 in 1 laptop and I have hardly ever used the touch screen, infact I've disabled it as occasionally got "ghost/phantom touch" problems
Any good as a hackintosh?
8Gb 1866mhz DDR3 memory, wow who was the numpty who designed this?
is the keyboard and the trackpad that bad ? that's what I read in some reviews

See the Envy X360 has DDR4 2400, another reason to go with it I suppose.
whoa such good deal - damn I bought my laptop 2 months too early!
Bought this last week via the Defence Discount Service for £748. Very happy so far, although I'm still getting used to the trackpad.

Interesting vs HP Spectre x360 13 i5 or i7 ranges or Xiaomi i7 laptops, given up on Dells. Thanks for posting.
Discount code no longer available.
Definitely still works for me34485941-nTCWW.jpg
Will this play 4k movie files (hooked up to my tv via hdmi)? My current laptop stutters and struggles to keep up with playback.
It is nearly 4 years old now though.

Also does anyone know if the Ram is upgradable on this?

It says £849 for me. Has the price increased?
Code has expired so £849...

Is the MX150 good for video editing?

Thinking of starting a YouTube channel lol
proper editing?
Video editing is one of the most calculation intensive things to do, but some of it can be done by CPU, and the 8th Gen are a noitceable step up than before
