Was this the same one posted a couple of weeks ago for £460 from dell?

but that's a 17 inch laptop which probably isn't as lightweight.

link isn't working on phone but does it have a SSHD?

You can still get the I7 Dell at £450. Depends if you have a student email address and buy within the boxing day sale.
You can get this I5 for £450 as well if you go though Quidco.

Personally I would get a I3 17inch Dell for £300. Low power machine and you can use it for almost anything. If you want to play games go get a desktop.

Do u have a link to the i3? I would like a 15.6" or smaller laptop which isn't sluggish.

I have a student email address so how would I go about getting the I7 version for £450 please? Cheers.

Isn't the 10% quidco cashback on business sales, and 3% for consumer?

I currently have a Dell Inspiron and am now looking to change because there are so many problems with the hardware despite it being a good spec on paper. The customer support from Dell has been lousy and I'd never buy another Dell laptop again.

This HP Envy has mixed reviews online although is competitive price. I think I'll wait and see if there are any other decent sales over next few days.

I've got an i7 version of this laptop. Its brilliant. Only thing I've changed is the hard drive for a ssd. I'd buy one again without hesitation.

Got my son this for xmas. the keys are backlit as well.

no built in cd drive.. Just something to be aware of

Newer laptops tend not to, the cd drive is old school now

Don't normally comment but I work in IT and we bought one of the Envys in for an employee. Build quality was a little disappointing if I'm honest, keyboard flex'd quite badly apparently a known issue after googling online. The ProBook's are better built if you can get one.

Shame because spec is good but Build quality not the usual HP Standard IMO. Hope this helps someone....

Yes it does mate

Does anyone know how long this deal will be available for?

Amazing price for a middle class i5, full HD, SSHD and a graphics card for under £500!

Does anyone know how the Quidco cashback works?

I'd say this is probably slightly better, the CPU inside the HP is a M series while for the Dell it's the U series, The M series generally have a higher clock speed, where the U is more power effecient, so in pure performance it would just edge out the i7 in the dell, though not by much.

The biggest advantage going for the HP is the SSHD, the FullHD screen and 50% higher capacity Battery.

Cashback is 3% on the purchase amount without VAT. So £12.47 which is 3% of £415.83. Hope that helps. Seems a good deal with the discount and cashback.

Owned this exact laptop for just over a month and it broke (motherboard issue). They have had it in the repair centre since the 11th November and I still haven't had it back yet. Okay laptop especially for this amount of money but the customer service is shocking.

Does this have a touchscreen? SSHD is that a mix of SSD and HDD ? or is it a full SSD ?
After a Desktop replacement with Touchscreen and maybe an OK processor and can change the drive to an SSD, but then it is limited to smaller sizes.

This is a 17 inch with a mixed 8GB ssd and 1TB 5400 drive AFAIK HP makes it difficult to replace the hard drive, use quidco and choose the 2 year warranty instead of the extra 10% off

hp... will break up to a month after your 12 months warranty

Got this lappy for the girlfriend from John Lewis in the black friday sale for £550, was setting it up and was very impressed with the sound for a laptop! Wasn't expecting much difference with the 'beats' logo plastered on it, but it was a pleasant surprise. If you can get the cashback price, it's a great deal.

I have a student email. So how do I go about getting the extra discount? Help somebody please

Very likely to have an mSATA socket too for a little extra boost.

Want to buy this but a bit skeptical because of the heat?
Why isn't this hotter?
i5
8GB RAM
1TB SSHD
15" Full HD
Backlit Keyboard
2GB Graphics Card

On paper looks fantastic, what's wrong?

There's just something not quite right about this deal.
apparently there have been issues with hardware and bios corruption and people having to send it back to get another crappy copy. I'd wait until John lewis does the price match and then buy it from them 'cos they give a 2 year warranty and their customer service is lights years ahead of crappy HP. last time i spoke with an indian from mumbai on their hp service thing

This definitely needs a lot more heat. £450 after cashback. I'd say you should add to the title i5, full-HD and graphics card so that people can benefit from this

I suppose you could say this is very middle road for most people. People wanting a gaming laptop will go for higher spec, people wanting a laptop to browse the net, watch films etc. will opt for something lower price. This laptop is ideal for casual gamers, can run Sims 3 very well. Depends on what you want, I'd go by reviews rather than heat.

Also, backlit keyboard is a bit of an over statement. It doesn't illuminate the keys, it just shines small bright white LEDs out through the key gaps, of which then reflects on the gloss screen. This feature is more of a decoration thing than practical in my opinion.

Thanks
I see, would it do well for a student at university?

And doesn't it hit the lower/middle ground in terms of price? Gaming laptops are in excess of £750 whereas a casual laptop is around £400, so in terms of that would you say it is a good deal for a university student who likes to occasionally game (FIFA/COD type games). Essentially I'm putting the decision (passing on the responsibility) to you whether I should buy this? Or are there other offers available.

How may i get this. Whats its location

Thanks very much for posting this. I've been looking for a decent laptop at a good price and, although my knowledge of laptops is fairly limited, I thought this looked pretty good. One of the main things I wanted was a full HD screen which is tough to come by along with a good spec at this price. The sales going on elsewhere for laptops seem to be pretty poor!

I bought through Quidco (using 2 year warranty link) but not sure it will track as it says it can't be used in conjunction with any other offer....

Bought this model on Black Friday deal for £549 so price now is very good. Runs very fast, love the quick startup, fingerprint for unlocking is cool and quick. It does run hot especially in intensive games or photoshp, there is keyboard flex but does not effect me.love the styling, the laptop is wider than usual 15.4" so have a 17" bag for it. The l080 screen is tops and not many other laptops have this resolution for this price.

I bought one last year with exactly the same specs and Hp as well at £399!!!

may i ask where you bought it from for that price?

Yeah..

The graphics card was released in March this year and the laptop was released in May I believe...

I think this isn't hotter cos of the £500 price tag, but personally I think it is a great deal.
