Do you hear the fan much? Does it kick in if playing films at all?

It does, but I wasn't watching movies for a long period of time so can't really comment on this really - but it could be noticeable.

Fan is usually quiet , if you're playing some games it will max the fan speed and then it's more noticeable.

I'm quite picky and I can tell it doesn't really bother me that much.

Any questions I'm happy to answer
BEWARE. Currys advertise goods as 'in Stock' but they are actually lying. They take your money then you might get it back 2wks later. They advertise and get people to put up fake 'bargains' then lie about it. Today they tried to tell me 'the warehouse guy hadn't checked stock in the ailse'...seriously.... Currys tried to lie saying they had 'a guy' who hadn't checked the stock hahahaha. Not a computerised real time stock system they did a conference about in profit projection...no, some poor guy who deals with one warehouse hahahaha. Currys are liars.

with the hp power control utility you can run in "quiet" which prevents the fan coming on at all by cutting performance. for movies and web browsing this isn't an issue at all so you get the best experience

(source, bought this model from john lewis with 3 year warranty back in September, still very happy with the experience.)
Wouldn't spend this kind of money at currys if something goes wrong its hoola hup time
Wouldn't touch currys anymore after the biggest joke of them trying to deliver a washing machine and being lied to multiple times
Bought this around Christmas time for £729, can’t fault it. Mine came with a free HP tilt pen in the package which I wasn’t expecting.

Trade in of £75 off that price if bought in store.

I got one from Amazon, but I think it's out of stock. I was actually lucky that I got one.

If you're after one guys it would be worth checking HP page too. If you're student you'll get slight discount too.

I take it you never worked there so you've based your assumptions on what they've told you.

But let me tell you a few things they do ethically;
1. They don't take money to hold an item, they ask your express consent if you want it today (if in stock), if not in stock would you rather pick up at nearby store or have it ordered. And if you choose the latter, they expressly tell you it'll take a minimum of 7 days no less. Or you couple simply order online and have it delivered for next day. You choose your method.
2. Advertising is regulated by legislations, false advertising is a thing...
3. The online system counts display products as 'in stock', if the store says they don't have any, then they don't. There's no reason for a store to reject you service unless you've created some sort of scene there and then by all means the store can just flat out refuse you service.

There's many things wrong with currys, but please unless you got the stuff to back up your points then just dont...

For all others thinking of buying this laptop, its superb, but yes sometimes you can hear the fan rawr, then again that'll happen mostly depending on the usage.
Otherwise, battery, spec and performance are top notch.

But might want to hold out it has been for £649 and might be again later
I wouldn't touch Currys .. absolute joke of a company .. they lied to me about stock too

You obviously dont know how online sales work as your protestations are in regard to high street sales not the Distance Selling Act. It's also odd to hear an argument so stupid and ridiculous as to argue 'your basing it on what THEY told you' like that is not a pertinent answer.
You are also incorrect as there are different parts of Currys and the rules they use are different. I ordered 2 products, 1 to store and one to home as they were ordered many hrs apart....yet they still showed stock the next day. It is now 2wks later and only yesterday did they admit to no stock :/ :/ :/ :/ more than your 7 days I think.

Reading all your previous activity shows you seem to have a singularly positive attitude to Currys deals..... and I'll not take advice from the guy who called LG's SM range as 'OLED lite'.
amazon.de are doing it for 899 Euro which is around £766 + del. But with a German keyboard layout.
