About HP Instant Ink

HP Instant Ink is a replacement ink service that saves you time and money ensuring that you always have ink before you need it. HP Instant Ink eligible printers that are connected to the internet send a message to HP when you need new cartridges and they'll be shipped directly to you. Designed to ensure that you're paying for the number of pages you print as opposed to the ink itself, it'll help you get the most out of your printer.

For a monthly fee, you can enrol on the page plan of your choice (50, 100 or 300 pages per month) and, regardless of what you print, including colour photos, HP will send you the ink you need all included in your monthly price plan. Unused pages can be rolled over to the next month up to the limit of your chosen plan (for example, in the 50-page plan, up to 50 unused pages can roll into the next month, giving you a maximum of 100 pages for that month). You can also upgrade your plan at any time if you want more pages or cancel your plan online without penalty if you need to stop your subscription.

These things (and tbh, most electronics/plastic goods) should come with a "return to manufacturer for disposal" clause built into the sales contract. That puts a big part of the environmental responsibility back on them. I totally understand folk suggesting buying a new printer next year/multiple printers this year to get a good deal. I think that with an RTV/RTM disposal clause built in, it allows for both the best deals to be had and for an element of collective environmental responsibility.

OK, that's me done my Attenborough bit...

Great deal. Bought this at 49.99 and was pleasantly surprised at the quality. You can also get about 14 months free ink
That’s excellent.so in total you can get up to 15 months free ink free.well done OP
Amazon.co.uk have now price matched it.
How do you get the extra months worth the ink please?
The free ink pays for the printer and more. Great offer.
I recently bought an Envy 4527, practically the same as this model. One thing I don't like is that to use the printer remotely (ie. Not on your home WiFi) you can't use the app. You can only send photos, Docs, pdfs to the printer via email attachment. This means you lose the extra control that the app gives you, such as specifying whether to print duplex or single sided and various other options.

I don't know if VPNing to your home network would get round this limitation.
Oh, and once you've registered the machine for Instant ink, you can up your pages to 700 per month and it's still free.

Complete no-brainer if you've got kids printing coursework etc.

Can I ask which plans does it comes with? Just the "Free" plan which is 15 pages a month?

Thanks! That would do it then... 300 pages per month!
what if i'm a light usage printer, will they still send ink cartridges so they can be used later?

Once you're registered for Instant Ink, you can log in to the account and increase it to 700 pages per month for no charge.
Any idea if it's possible, at the end of the free ink, to revert to the free plan?.
Yes it’s possible
Purchased via Amazon! Great spot...Thanks Op 🏻
I just need something to print every now and again.
This'll probably be no good to me.

You also have the free printing plan option which provides 15 pages per month for free with no end date. Cartridges sent out to your house just like the regular plans. If you need to print more than 15 pages in a month then it's a pay per page proposition.

If you don't take the free 12 months offer you can have 15 pages per month free for the life of your printer.

No, the printer orders ink when it is getting low so if you are a light user you might not even get any new ink sent. Because this offer is free ink you should sign up for the highest usage contact (300 sheets a month) then just before the free offer expires drop down to the level which suits you best. Or it might be better to buy a new printer and take out the offer again, depends on your usage.
By the way it does not matter what you print IE just one full stop on a page counts as a page as does a full page photo.
This is an excellent deal however much printing you do. IMO.

Technically there is no end date, however as the offer only works for the printer itself, if your printer packs in then you won't be able to make use of the 15 pages per month. In other words you can't use those 15 pages per month allowance with another printer.

What happens if you go over by a few in a month?
Does it revert back to the 12 months deal?

If you mean the free 15 pages per month then no that is NOT possible. Once you take up this free offer then that option is no longer available. Anyone who tells you otherwise hasn't read the small print.

Then you pay for the extra at whatever the rate is. So if you print 20 copies you pay for 5. Also I don't think you get any carry over, so using 10 in one month doesn't give you 5 to carry over.

That plan isn't time limited, it lasts the life of your printer. The other plans (which go up to 700 pages per month) are time limited. So you can get 12 months (plus 2 months more) @ up to 700 pages per month free.

I wonder what the charge is if you go over the top?
better to buy from Amazon or John Lewis? the 2 year guarantee would suggest John Lewis.

and thanks to those who pm'd me
My partner is a teacher and ridiculously the school have limited the amount of printing the teachers can do for lesson planning so we were on the look out for a printer, this is perfect, any codes would be greatly appreciated.

Actually scrap what I said and I suggest googling the HP "overage charges" as it charges for a bundle. In effect they "buy" you an extra batch of prints. Personally I see it as something to avoid.
Just gone for this via Amazon... printing animation storyboards at our little studio should suddenly feel a lot less painful...
I'd love a code for the extra 2 months if someone has one going?

No point buying new ink. Just buy a new printer every 12month

Almost cheaper to buy multiple printers and use the free 15 pages per month from each one.. once the trial has ended if you dont print that much.
Great device . Excellent scanner which Can be controlled by your phone. So easy to scan and edit batches of photos. Never bothered with the ink deal though....
Cheers, perfect timing, ordered !!

I have hp 4500 envy but ink cartridges replacement is expensive proposition so looking for a new colour laser jet printer as it goes long way interms of printing cost. Can anyone suggest as I never bought laser jet printer before. However I am also keen on this deal considering 12 months free ink . Voted Hot for the deal anyway.
Many thanks
Amazon saying this re the ink

order between 01/03 and 30/04 and enrol within 7 days after printer set-up to qualify

So does this mean as you wouldn't receive the printer until tomorrow (1st May) you would not qualify?
