Looks like a great laptop for the money. Hot!
Waiting for the i7 to drop a little in price
Would be expecting dedicated GPU at this nice, good if it was cheaper.

What kind of battery life have you been getting? I'm a bit hesitant of Ryzen in laptops
If it means anything, I got one of those Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro's for £600 with this CPU. 256gb ssd and an Nvidia MX150 (better than a 940m). For this price you should expect some sort of dedicated GPU.

I have a gaming PC and want to use this for work/uni, so I don't need a dedicated graphics card, what do you think?

Go for it

Although, I wouldn't pay that much for a laptop just for work/uni. My sister got a HP 250 G6 i5 7200u + 256gb SSD +8GB Ram for £489.

Not sure how warranty works for xiaomi. Does anybody here have experience?
For uni I think a low end portable laptop with long battery life is ok(unless you are doing a computing intensive course).

Would you recommend it for graphic design? (Photoshop, Illustrator etc)

I use Lightroom, Photoshop and Premier Pro on it. Haven't had any hiccups yet with it, the screen is really good albeit 1920x1080. I have the i5 / 8gb ram varient, however, there is the i7 / 16gb ram version as well. It's definitely a top performer, but the main thing about it is it's build quality, it's really good.
