Shame about the slow hard drive, decent spec otherwise.

Shame about the slow hard drive

No matter what drive it would have, somebody would still moan about it.... Whats the point? These days if you don't like stock hhd, just buy top end ssd (plenty deals on HUKD), fit it and enjoy
Even if manufacturer bundle sdd's with these laptops, you would still moan that its old type ssd, slow, buggy, etc

No, if it had a decent sized SSD at this price it would be a red hot deal, but I guess the profit margins aren't in it for them to do that yet. As I said, a decent spec for this price otherwise.

I've bought this and am gonna buy an SSD for ~£100, then I've got an SSD touchscreen i5 (and a good i5 at that) laptop for £650... can't find a better deal elsewhere

its more or less a macbook air... for the price it ain't half bad, but it isn't exactly amazing either. nothing that screams deal.

Compared to MacBook Air
+Bigger screen, full HD screen, touchscreen, twice the RAM, convertible, slightly better processor
- Not SSD, Windows 8, heavier

Comparing this to other convertible laptops, cannot find one better priced elsewhere.

one thing to mention: you have to be careful with these 360, they just don't last long. Almost every laptop like this has screen problems after while.. cable connecting board with ldc just breaks...

Well been advised that never use powerful programs on the laptops with power-efficient CPU.

Intel 4400 only, not intel 5000.

Agreed, i had a XPS 12 with a i7 ULV and sent it back as lightroom just lagged for fun, my sandybridge i7 2630QM on my old XPS is amazing though.

Easy to upgrade hard disk... More importantly it's got a 1080p screen

Shame it's Currys Pc world

You can get a non-touchscreen HP Envy 15-J for £500 after cashback which has 2GB dedicated graphics, AMD A-10 processor and 1TB storage.

When I first looked at the picture, I thought it was a knife.

+1 My current laptop (also a HP) cost £450 for an amazing spec (2 years ago) and came with a 1tb HDD. As it's a 17" model and therefore big enough to have two HDD bays, I bought a 120gb SSD drive for £50 and put the 1tb into the second bay. So I've got the speed benefits of loading programs from SSD plus as much storage as I'd need on my laptop.

Basically, the point is it's cheap and easy to change the HDD and put whatever you want in there. I think as it's a 15" model there's only one drive bay (can anyone confirm?) but for around £50-60 you could get either a 120gb SSD or a 2tb mechanical drive and you'd still have the 500gb drive to either sell on eBay and make some of that money back or keep as a backup drive.

go for this
non touch but cheaper
dedicate graphic cards
499 after cash back,
hot color,
lenovo is number one in computer industry

Anybody got one of these?
Do you know if it has 2 hdd bays. My last 15.6inch laptop did. If so an ssd for the operating system and a large hdd for storage and this would be awesome. Or anybody know if it has a msata ssd slot?.. Although i doubt that.

This is what the manual says...
"Support for M2 SATA-3 (NGFF), TLC and MLC: 256 GB Solid-state drive (SSD)"

Actually, it's not as slow as you think. It's got a hybrid drive!

Presumably this...
500 GB, 5400-rpm + 8 GB NAND Hybrid hard drive, 7.0 mm

convertible + touch screen seem only practical for small screens. This would be quite heavy to carry as a tablet I reckon.
