I'm in the market for a laptop. Pretty desperate actually... Not for gaming. Just browsing, and multitasking. From my limited research, this seems good.

1080p, 8gb Ram, and i3. But my knowledge is poor. I just need to replace the worst laptop choice I ever made in my Lenovo!

I'd like to know if there's better for the money. My deal breakers are 1080p and SSD.

Grab an i5 for £50 more.

i5 and it would have been ticked all the boxes. Decent deal nonetheless

There is an i5 version for £50 more ebuyer.com/805…abu

But im not sure if its worth it. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

Im not sure I need an i5. For this money, or anywhere near, can you get a 1080p, i3, sdd laptop? If you can, please say!

would've been nice if had backlight keyboard and smaller size as don't find use for full number pad

As a touch typist, back-light on a keyboard is not a deal breaker for me... (secretary studies as a 6th former wasn't just for the poon)

Everything online even near this price, is half the ram, or 720p.if you're voting cold, can you tell me why. It'd be helpful. As I need to buy a laptop...

Yeah, but £400 was my ceiling. I don't need anything more than something that can run a few browser windows open. Maybe Word, maybe some adult films... I get that for £50 more I could get an i5, but can I get THIS better? I don't want to spend more. For 500 quid more, I can get a computer that will make a cappuccino and tweek my nipples, but for this price, is there anything better? Or cheaper?

Thx just picked up the I5..

The i5 is 1 generation newer and around looks to be 50% faster in single and multi thread.
A significant difference. Well worth the small price of £50.

I get that. Totally. But I can't justify it. As I don't need it. Is there a better 1080p,8gb RAM i3 out there? If so, please let me know as I'm about to buy, and don't want to get a rubbish deal. I can't find anything better....

I have not seen anything better yet.
Perhaps hold off a little longer. The day has just begun.

cyber monday might be better for laptops when buying online.

This certainly seems like a deal if you are only looking for a i3 laptop with 1080p strictly. I too was looking all over and this looks the best bet tho im no computer expert. It seems you would get more time from the i5 if you looked after it tho.

Im personally waiting with doubt to see what shows up in the next few hours. Its risky as this and the i5 deal might go away.

Looks like the i5 is gone

Ram is cheap. This is a 6th gen i3. We are now on 8th gen. you can’t upgrade a processor.

Think about future proofing - for £50 you’re gunna get an i5 that will be much more capable of handling what ever is to come. I fell lucky on a clearance i7 deal 8 years ago and it is still fast as lightning now

I think you've found the best deal for that laptop for sure. And I understand you having a budget - I'm buying for someone else and they have set a similar amount to you. Gonna get this i3. Thanks for the heads up!

OP is right. I was looking on behalf of family member and couldn't find these specs at this price as was looking for exact same specs; i3/i5, 8gb RAM, SSD and Full HD

If it were me I would sit on it until later and see how things are shaping.

Hmm I'm tempted. Got my wife an i7 with 8gn ram and ssd but she hates the keyboard and battery life. Just for word and browsing, may be playing music and the odd film... Thinking this might be better for her but is the keyboard and battery good? Anyone know?

Probably won't be able to tell the difference between the i3 and i5 unless you're doing advanced processes

You will see the difference between i3 and i5 when you have 15+ tabs open in your browser plus while watching 4k video on youtube. i3 will start to choke and slow you down. i5 is the better option here! And the price seems good enough to grab it. Not the best deal, but a good solid deal. I find this Black Friday rubbish compared to three years ago.

Not in this case, both are 2 cores, four threads. The i3 is Skylake, the i5 is Kabylake and is clocked higher, IPC wise they're the same. Intel don't brand their laptop CPU like their desktops according to core count and threads, kind of misleading if you ask me. I was under the impression that they do but started researching since I needed a laptop.
