Very very good price for a laptop with this specification .

Spec is great really. If the CPU benchmark is this...

cpubenchmark.net/cpu…ore

With DDR 3 RAM and an OLED screen? I think I'll take a punt, please stop me someone if you know something I don't.....oO:)

From brief glances in shops at these, their design is minimalist. As long as you aren't expecting it to look like or feel like a macbook pro, then I would say this is a steal at this price

And for comparison sake, these are £368 on amazon.

Cashed in some vouchers and picking it up, worth a punt for £240. See how it compares to my old faithful Sony NR38. Nice, thanks for the post

It's not OLED

This laptop is fundamentally flawed. I bought several of these and they all had hardware issues. They are being sold as Compaq/Lenovo/Toshiba with minor cosmetic changes. Once they are refurbed, they seem to work OK but I won't try them again.

No - cheaper brand, single core slower processor, less ram, smaller hard drive.

The thing that gets to me, is were to to buy this it would be to replace a dell with an i3 cpu. But my computer is a year old and the warranty is running out. I just feel like it would be better to buy a new laptop rather than extend the warranty on this. Paid £350 for this dell a year ago.

Use your Tesco vouchers for a even better deal.

Checked on HP site, not OLED, though Tesco description states:

'Screen Type OLED'

Is it really only 802.11g and not the n series for the wireless or is this another tesco boo boo

It's useful to have wifi N, but the vast majority of users don't need it. What internet speed do you get? I doubt its going to be above 54mbps? probably about 6.

Plus - you can always buy a nano wifi n adaptor for about £10.

Does have wireless N, but no HDMI. Still a pretty cracking price, though.

Full spec: h40059.www4.hp.com/uk/…pdf

Someone please advise:
I've just been looking at the various Tesco links and will be in a position to buy one next week.

I'm a bit out of touch with laptops now.. basically, need one with hdmi socket, bluetooth if possible (although no new ones seem to have this future) and can handle Football Manager 11 and future releases.
This will be the only game that the laptop will use.

Budget no more than £350.

Thanks people

Got one of these in the HP sale for £315. Its extremely basic looking but the spec is fantastic for this price.

Have some heat! Great price and spec for the money very tempted myself!

what sort of hardware issues?

Ordered one Good price and spec. thanks for the heads up

Ordered one for the parents. Most other websites are charging £80-100 more for this. No mention of any hardware issues in the reviews. The only complaint seems to be regarding the aesthetics and the trial software. Thanks for the deal!

Gutted, bought one of these from HP a couple of weeks ago for the parents for around £322 after TCB.

I got a 2 year warranty included, so it's not all that bad.

Nice and chunky, more of a household laptop than a portable, so perfect for the parents.

3 x USB, 1 x VGA and an RJ45, has the HD chipset, but as stated earlier it's only a VGA out.

Dedicated graphics too - this is real bargain.

This is an amazingly good deal

HP, top of the unreliability charts, I have an 18 month old high-spec HP laptop which has the slight flaw of er not working at all. £175 for a new mobo having a larf or what. Not just me google for the large and bitter community of HP owners

unless I am very much mistaken (happens - not often though ;-) ) pc2-6400 is DDR2 spec memory not ddr3 - although the slowest laptop ddr3 has a memclock speed of 800mhz also, this is DDR2 not DDR3 RAM,

"Standard memory 3 GB DDR3 (1 x 1024 MB + 1 x 2048 MB)" From HP website here:

I don't get this. Whenever any good laptop deals come out, there are always ridiculous amounts of people coming on scaring others on all these sites that they are seriously unreliable. In the last few weeks, I have been told many times that HP, Compaq, Acer, Dell, Lenovo and Toshiba, oh and anything with an AMD processor are totally unreliable. So what, never buy from any of the major manufacturers. When are they going to realise that sometimes electronics are faulty... but it's rare.

That is why you have a warranty! These laptops will be just fine

profet

Dedicated graphics too - this is real bargain.

Not dedicated graphics....uses shared system memory

what one at this price, i have a ageing dell laptop here that give its due has put up with some use, but is finally showing signs that its had better days...

Just bought one for my daughter , great spec for the price

ordered one for the old man, heat added

cracking deal. ordered one for the father!

MrBoombastic

Thats impressive, I have enough trouble using my fingers on this little keyboard, your typing speed will be crap unless you're going to use your balls too!!

Isn't Dan Hardy from Nottingham?...;)

Is this CPU capable of handling video encoding? Ie converting dvd to mp4?

Sometimes 10 out of 10,000 of an electronic items performs poor or develops a fault. Those 10 negatives will ALWAYS be posted on forums or review sites. There is no known flaw in every HP laptop, just becuase there has been flaws in the past on 2 or 3 models out of 100s and 100s which in some of the cases was actually graphics chip faults and nothing to do with hp themself. Poeple jump to conclusions that all hp laptops are crap. Ive had 1 for 2 years now and works perfectly fine and i leave it on everyday 8 hours a day nothing has ever failed.

THERE ARE NO KNOWN FAULTS WITH THIS MODEL

Just bought one for my daughter and is going back after a week as the touchpad is very tempremental. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. It may have just been a one off but exhange for a Toshiba so hope that one is better.
