This is the only drawback of this laptop at this price.

Just install Windows 7 (or XP). All drivers are available from HP web site for free.

I have a similar laptop with Windows 7 on. It works well, although I am not a big fan of their driver support. That said, most places are pretty rubbish. Also I installed Ubuntu on this, but this doesn't seem to work so well... Someone else may know something different. Geek comment over B-)

Anyone have bought refurbished pc item from Techfurb before? Any comment? thanks

Acceptable spec for a basic laptop and able to handle data alot better than an Intel Atom.

However HP are slightly dogged with bad design and lots of faults

Had one from Currys, I guess Techfurb wereresponsible.

Total junk, they had managed to send a laptop with heavy marks of part of a toolkit on the screen.

You could see an outline of pliers when in use.

Would not trust this company, if they are anything to do with the people who refurb the Currys HP laptops.

Thanks for for sharing your experience.
Did you return your product due to the heavy mark? Just wonder how is their customer service like.

Have a look on hp site they have a sale on laptops and there are some codes around. Some are better spec with windows 7, 2 year warranty(it says). Credit goes to this deal

XP OEM is £70, and Windows 7 Home Premium is around £65. Bumps the price up doesn't it. Although you might have been advocating installing a 'free illegal' version of either. There is Ubuntu 10.10 or other Linux distros which can be installed legally for free. I only said that to appease people who might think I'm windows biased (I am really).

these laptops are horrible avoid at all costs... the spec is good but build quality is poor hence why the cheap price, had one for a year now and the hinge is broken, the case is cracked everywhere.

Vista's fine.. with UAC off or in quiet mode (if all your apps will live with that- one doesn't) and DEP under control... my fan's off when it's not doing work & I've got lots of background stuff..

Sure, I hated Vista for about 4 weeks.. until I got everything installed - finally- after 3 attempts..
