The tagging system is so bad I presume it was designed by G4S.
Hi, Sometimes tags auto add to a deal, i've edited them now
The tagging system is so bad I presume it was designed by G4S.
Should be decent. Will be quick with the SSD
This is overkill for your needs! Get one with an i3-6xxx for around £300 instead.
HUKD is now an affiliate site so they want to push every single deal.
No but the post says it can play fifa 18, tf2, dirt 4, rocket league, titanfall 2, overwatch, rainbow six siege, battlefront, sims 4, dota 2 quite well on low settings, I'm just saying from my experience with onboard graphics it really won't play these well even on low.
Same price before BF, I bought one, am very happy with it, it does everyting i want it to do, only quicker
Reasonable spec for the price, but not for me.
Not voting either way.
Some random guy on the internet versus an old, reliable, review website (https://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-HD-Graphics-620.172256.0.html).
60 fps is considered good, apparently most people can't see any improvement above that point. 40 is acceptable, or quite well in my wording. I think your standards are too high.
You can see improvement over 60 or they wouldn't make 144hz+ monitors, maybe not everyone can tell the difference but most can My standards are just what I believe you need to have a decent experience gaming on a laptop, and I just like to be able to play my games smoothly.
I have my opinion and you have yours, I'm just saying that I think anybody who might buy this to run most of the games you listed (fifa 18, tf2, dirt 4, rocket league, titanfall 2, overwatch, rainbow six siege, battlefront, sims 4, dota 2) will probably be disappointed.
Supposed to pick that up today but was put off by a few negatives surrounding the battery life
Same reason they make insanely over-powered gpus. Some people will buy what they think is better, not what is worth it. Or just to show off.
As we're on a site dedicated to saving money, guess where the priority lies? If this was the overclockers forum, sure, go for top specs and aim for high fps. No one there will care for integrated cards. I don't think anyone interested in this deal, note I even used the term casual gamer (what do you seriously think that meant?) right at the top of the description, is seriously thinking they will get 60 fps on an integrated card.
The fps values are:
fifa 18: 51fps
tf2: 76
dirt 4: 45
rocket league: 54
titanfall 2: 36
overwatch: 46
rainbow six: 39
battlefront: 40
sims 4: 182
dota 2: 56
Some of those are minimums. I know some people consider anything below 60 to be dirty peasant territory, but it's fine for casuals. Do you think people were getting 60 in the past? The new zelda is locked at 30!
lmao calm down it's a discussion not an argument, dunno why people have to get so worked up and upset Like I said, you have your opinion and I have mine. It's all about what you're looking for in a laptop and sure this might be great for someone who wants to play a few indie's and the odd game here and there, if that's what you mean by casual gamer (again down to each individuals idea of a casual gamer) butin my opinion, if you want to play any more than that then it's not "saving money" because it won't perform well enough to do so. Also I didn't say go for top specs lol.
What fps values are they just out of interest? Highs, averages or lows?
If you want it then you go for it, I've shared my opinion and that's all I aimed to do
The CPU on the Lenovo is the new 8th gen i5 with 4 cores so it would be a pretty good improvement on this HP's i5-7200U, however the HP has 256gb storage whereas the Lenovo only has 128gb. Where did you see the negatives about battery life?
The lenovo is a bit lighter (in weight) but doesn't have an rj45 port, also the HP has 2 USB2.0 ports and 1 USB3.0 port where as the Lenovo has 1 USB2.0, 1 USB3.0 and one USB type C
Read about the battery in the thread itself - someone saying they got 3.5 hours with just casual use, though it was on max brightness, and also going through the reviews on the Currys page there were a few complaints along the lines of "battery life not great but it'll do".
Not fussed about storage, upgrades are cheap enough when required I guess and ports aren't an issue these days either with just a port hub or docking station.
Still undecided, there's also quite a few mentions of the Lenovo feeling cheap and plasticky, but then the HP reviews suggest similar build issues - there's review saying the screen is thin and the hinges tight so the screen actually bends when opening the lid.
John Lewis sale starts at 5pm so might have a look at if they provide any alternatives.
Have not played any games on it so can't comment on that
Also worth noting that there is no access on the bottom for upgrading ram or adding additional storage other than taking the entire bottom off the laptop, which is more difficult than it has been on previous laptops. For example i've replaced screens, keyboards, power ports and other misc repairs multiple times on multiple laptops for family/friends etc as well as regular RAM/HDD upgrades but this laptop is by far the most difficult one to open up and not something i'd want to attempt whilst still in warranty
Screen is great, build quality is as you'd expect for this price and as for the HP brand, i've never had any issues with previous HP equipment, my previous laptop (HP) was around 5 years old before deciding to upgrade to this
Very defensive about your deal, calm down.
That's the internet security package that they give you a free 1 year subscription to.
1 year free, and covers 3 pc's
You get a free 1 year bullguard premium ant virus with product,
Thanks OP.
Hard to advice without more info. What do you need it for in march, why then? Main reason to buy now is that people fear further price increases because of brexit and resulting weak pound. There won't be much of a tech improvement between now and then either. So, without knowing more, my advice is to grab a good deal whenever you see it. Like yesterday, when ebay had their 20% off offer.
Thanks. It's for uni. I think I will wait and see other deals on new year day. If I don't see something I like I will be getting this.
Arrived and worked well for a day, now screen gone all white. Possbile got a knock in transit? As i didn't drop it! But maybe just a manufacturing fault. Contacting them now and hoping to get a replacement not a refund, as for £405 I don't think i'd get anything similar!
Be very cautious when buying from ebuyer. Their return option for ebay purchases is yodel collection. It can come anytime from 8am to 9pm. There's no warning or estimate as to when it will be. I came home at 2pm Friday from work, another yodel parcel had been left so I was worried I missed it, spent frustrating couple of hours trying to get info from webchat and they told me all drivers were now finished., Thankfully somebody came to the door at 7pm to collect, but you are essentially trapped at home waiting on them, they don't allow you to use collect+ to just drop it off at a shop. This seems to apply to guest check out and ebay purchases from what I can gather. You can post yourself but they only refund up to £3.50 postage and you'd be liable if it doesn't arrive.
Far too much hassle and stress, not worth it.
