I would be tempted but the cheapest toner I can see is £80 per cartridge for hp, £50 for non-hp or £150 for set of 4. I've not looked very hard though so happy to be proven wrong!
This same printer is £134.99 plus £40 cashback on the HP students store
Thank you. Have been waiting for a solid laser printer to come up. I have had enough of the joke Epsom inkjet all in one I have been using for the last couple of years. Also found that my limited scanning was handled just great by my phone.

Yeah colour laser toner sets are rarely cheap. This set HERE is £145.90 but that is for high yield. There are probably lower yield sets available for less but that is actually a decent price for the yield
Compatible inks on Brother printers are more affordable. Not sure i'd go with HP these days.

Thanks, very useful for students. Obviously a better price for those with a student email address or who can access that site via other means. The advantage with John Lewis for many will be their quibble free warranty and of course for that extra £10 for a 4 year accidental damage warranty could be useful to many,
got the 281 with fax/copier/scanner for that price from the student store (and potential TCB) a couple of weeks back. Lovely printer though dreading the toner running out but hoping the compatibles market will have developed some competition by then. Also got a 3 year warranty with a promo stack from HP.
Toner too expensive.

HP - The Vauxhall of the computer world.
Anyone got any idea how many pages the ‘introductory cartridges’ are expected to last?
I know you don't have a time machine but their all in one lasers were less than this after casback only a month or so ago. This deal will be on again in a few months as that's what HP does if you can wait.

Awesome deal ...
Toner saver tip - As soon as you setup the printer go to printer settings and change the print quality from Normal to draft from windows control panel (not when you print from the print dialogue box as that will only last for that particular session of the printing) this extend the starter toner life much much longer. Draft mode is good enough for most of the printing and if you want you can always go back and change the setting to normal for top quality output.

Yeah there are cheaper alternatives. This one is for an HP that many people want. Its quality is superb and the duplex is a must for many people. Brother compatible toners are good value for people on a tight budget and the print quality on them is reasonable. This HP printer is a model that quite honestly is hard to beat for quality and its page cost is quite reasonable as the toners mentioned earlier are very high yield. If you printed off 3200 pages in black and 2500 pages in colour your cost per page works out at a fraction over 2.5p per page. For a good quality duplex laser colour printer, that's remarkable value. So yeah, Brother printers can be cheap but so can HP
Anyone who has one of these or who buys one

Set of 3 colour toner high yield cartridges can be bought HERE for £54.99
Set of 2 Black toner high yield cartridges can be bought HERE for £129.99

Those were the cheapest I could see from a quick Amazon search. That lot would give you 6400 BW plus 2500 colour working out at 2p per page printing cost at normal settings. Using the top tip from ihotuk in the comments, obviously would reduce that cost even further

It's a fair chunk of cash to lay out but cost wise in the longer run, that is pretty good I reckon
