I think the N2600 is actually only 1.6 gig:

Also might be worth checking the ram can be upgraded to 2 gig as many of the N2600 units have ram soldered on with no easy upgrade route, though that might just be Asus units.

You're right, HP list it on their website as a 1.6 GHz processor, so it's nothing special. They do also list a 2gb ddr3 ram module for it, though that's not conclusive in itself, it would suggest that the ram is upgradable.

Is the N2600 any better than the N570?

Similar spec refurbished netbooks on Currys/PC World, only difference being the processor and the battery life?

The N2600 one has 4.5 hours, the N570 'up to' 10.

I have the HP 210-3025sa (as being sold refurbished by Currys), I put an 2gb ram in mine (at a cost of about £10) and it's brilliant for general surfing, light office applications etc. The battery life is indeed up to about 10 hours, I can be confident it's always going to last at the very least 6+ hours on battery when using wifi, I'm pretty sure I've had the full 10 hours from it before (I was massively impressed by the battery life when I first got it, being used to a 5 year old and power hungry 15" laptop). The only thing I would say is that Currys seem to have frequent refurb discount deals (I got mine for about £160) so it might be worth holding off if you're not in a hurry. The refurb came in a plain box with only the power supply and HP "getting started" leaflet, but was well packaged/protected.

The N2600 is better than the N570 as it allows HD video playback to compete against the AMD 350.
