perfect. thx for info. just ordered it.

Same price at the HP store (and same cashback and extended warranty) but with two months free 300 page instant ink store.hp.com/UKS…PRN.

I heard back from HP, so have updated this post, in this sentence, here, to give them their due and hopefully a good outcome to come - someone from HP got back to my email saying they hadn't an application for cash back from me, though I got all the fields filled in and the invoice uploaded, all within the five minutes and successfully submitted. I had pointed out in my email that as they have re-run this promotion, ending on the 30th of April, for the HP8165, could they for good will give me the same cash back? The person who emailed me said my email would be referred and could I include my name, address and banking details, so I have done that and asked if they could also chase up the 3-year warranty application, too. I will report back when I know more but, meantime, at least wanted to give them their due for responding to my email where the phone call contact didn't get a response from whomever was going to look into it, unless they've rolled the phone call and email into one.

My original comment was - Good luck getting HP to honour the cash back and warranty. They didn't with me with the HP 8615 deal on here, several months ago. I applied for both, carefully. No response on the cashback. Initially a response on the 3-year warranty saying they were processing my claim, and then nothing. The call centre said they'd not had a cashback claim from me, something that I found other users had experienced. They said my 3-year warranty claim had been processed and a further email sent 6th February but that email never arrived here and he said it was now past the claim date for it, anyway. He promised a manager would get back to me and never did. I wrote several emails, all ignored, which seems to be typical. I even have an email from them saying they have a copy of my invoice. The printer itself is very noisy, the paper feed into the scanner is extremely loud. Having had two HP laptops which overheated and died while in sleep/hibernation mode, rather than the hardware detect the overheating and shutdown, I find it hard to recommend the brand. The cashback debacle is the most stressful customer service failure I have been involved in. A lot of company on the forums. You might get the cashback but I wouldn't depend on it as a deal breaker. Good luck.

I find it hard to vote on the deal. At least it's from a good seller, in John Lewis.

Thanks for the info. Read a comment like yours before ordering and before posting this which is why I opted to buy it from John Lewis as I feel like if I have any problems they went mess around in helping me out.

Took a punt, hope it pays off!

is this laser or inkjet, Please

errm....Laser tend to say LASER in the title i.e. LaserJet so INK

lol....Thanks...

I bought one of the large format HP Inkjet printers last year, had no problem with the cashback but it is an awful machine - it sits there looking shiny, with me imagining a little HP executive inside rubbing his hands with glee and anticipation due to the imminent mugging of my wallet.

Ignoring that it constantly appears as being offline and the laughable start-up times as it decides to do some self diagnosing for >5minutes, the main issue for me is that as soon as it thinks it is low on ink it will refuse to print anything until you put a new cartridge in.

Check the forums, there are plenty of complaints about it out there, it is infuriating as I wanted to print out an urgent text document and it wouldn't let me. A warning would have sufficed but their bloatware filled drivers are busily pushing their instant ink service, which in itself is a joke due to the limits, but that is another story.

I am certain that I will never buy an HP inkjet machine again.

Best of luck to you. I have updated my post with what I hope will be a better outcome from my frustration on the applied for cashback and warranty. I will update further when I have heard back from my appeal.

The printer part, assuming 8615 is similar to the 8620, is quick and printing on both sides is welcome. The flatbed scanner works well with the provided free OCR software that was supplied on CD. Downsides are, the scanner feeder, on my sample at least, is very noisy and likes what you're scanning to be in good condition. My first attempt with, in fairness, a not perfectly flat sheet ended in a jam. Ink is quite expensive, though I have to remind myself the ink cartridges are quite large and that I didn't buy it to print photographs, can use my old Canon and Epson printers for that, that I bought the HP just for document printing. The LCD recently informed me the printer needed an update. I pressed a button on the display and it updated without incident.

Just setup the printer, all seamless and seems to be very fast at printing, copying and scanning. Didn't find it loud at all.

Registered for my warranty and cashback.

Hope I don't get any problems but at the moment from my initial setup and experience using our so far, not worried.

What's the advantages of this over the 8610 for £60 less?

Not much marginally faster ADF scanner on the 20 but the 20 has lower resolution. They are the same printer some minor tweaks in the firmware I think?
