Saw Chanchi32's post for the HP 8728 printer with 4 months instant ink and thought I'd have a look to see if there was a deal for a someone that prints tons like me.

I managed to find another HP OfficeJet Pro (model 8718) but with 13 months Instant Ink on a 500 page per month plan included for £39.99 with HP's £20 Cashback*.

This printer also includes the free extended 3 year warranty.

This is ideal for me and I hope others that do a lot of printing. No home delivery on this one but plenty of stock for C&C near me.

*Claim £20 cashback when you purchase this product (ends 31.10.2017). Terms and conditions apply. To claim your cashback visit hp.com/uk/…ney

Product features

  • Included with the HP OfficeJet Pro 8718 is a 13 month, 500 page plan with HP Instant Ink, providing a total of 6,500 pages of prints or photos.

Edit: Here are a couple of pictures taken from the printer box collected today. Good that the deal is now confirmed and that it also includes the 3yr extended warranty that isn't mentioned on Currys site.

Not the best cashback offer there's been for a HP Printer.

Ebuyer had the 8720 at £140 with £100! Cashback a couple of months back.

The vast majority of the big discounts offered by HP (including the one you mention) are not cashback deals but trade ins, which means you have to have a suitable working printer to offer.

The main highlight of this deal isn't the cashback but the included 13 months instant ink plan, and at 500 pages per month (6500 pages over the period) the potential savings are extremely good if you use a printer a lot like me.

Didn't even know HP offered a 500 page a month plan, would question if this was correct

Can you downgrade the plan from 500 pages to make it last longer?

Anyone konws deals for OfficeJet Pro 8718 toner?

The 500 page is special for this printer and probably 1 or 2 others it opens up a hidden option when you register.

It is four months free at 500 and the next nine months is a credit voucher. So you could downgrade to 300 pages and get another couple of months free.

100% agree with Libertas on his review. I have had the printer for 3 months and it is great unless you need perfect photo prints.

Does anyone know if the balance of unused sheets carries over into the next month and indefinitely?

Unfortunately it doesn't.

You get your monthly allocation. Either you use it - or lose it.

CORRECTION: As clarified by zabada below - the t& c's when I signed up have been modified to now allow rollover of unused pages. I purchased this printer a number of months ago - and will chase this up with Hp to allow me the same on my instant ink account.

Cheers zabada!

I don't think that's correct - unused pages do roll over, up to the number of pages in the monthly plan chosen:

"If you do not use all your plan pages in a month, the unused pages will be kept in your account as rollover pages. Your rollover pages are available as long as you are enrolled in HP Instant Ink. You can continue to roll over up to the number of pages in your monthly plan (for example, you can roll over up to 15 pages if you are enrolled in a 15 page plan). If you have printed all of the pages in your plan, and you have used all of your rollover pages, you can still print additional pages and save."

Maybe correct as this 500 pages is a special offer for this printer, will need clarification from someone that actually has this printer

Then we will know for sure without guessing

From the 8718 Box I just picked up from PC World. and £20 Cash back.

Have added pictures to the original post of the printer box which gives full details of the 6500 page deal.

So the deal is: 500 pages per month included for 13 months. This is unlocked with a 4 month free trial + £117 voucher code (in the box) for the remaining period. Also, this printer has the free 3year extended warranty from HP .

I have just finished setting up one of these printers. Seems to be very good printing quality for the money.

One problem I have had is when setting up the instant ink you have to open an account. When the set-up was finished it states that I am on a 300 page 0-month trial period and then £12.99 a month will be deducted from the £117 starting on the 14 November.

I have opened a query on the HP support forum to find out what has happened but whilst on there I noticed there are quite a few people complaining that they are not receiving new ink cartridges even though the current ones have run out. I hope this is not going to be a problem.

So just to clarify, could I downgrade it to 100 pages a month if I wanted to and get the entire plan for free for 5x as long? Or I could get the subsequent 9 months for 5x as long using the credit voucher?

I've had the same printer for years, this is all new to me.

Edit: I found the Instant Ink help page on HP. So I'm assuming I would basically have £117 to spend, and could choose the £1.99 pm 50 page plan, the £3.49 pm 100 page plan, or the £7.99 pm 300 page plan, and could switch plans at any time, giving at most a 58 month subscription. Cool!

I have one and its been flawless. Not really one for printing photos specifically - for that your better off with a canon pixma (expensive running costs though). This is a great all rounder - ideal for a small or home office + general household printer. It is larger than your typical printer - but should be much more reliable as it is designed for small office useIf anybody wants a few extra months of instant ink on top for free - PM me (before you activate your instant ink trial).Libertas

PM'd you, thanks in advance.

The deal is:

Printer is £99.99 then claim £20 back from HP, so £79.99 total cost.

13 months instant ink based on 500 pages per month is included (sign up for 4 months free trial then the remainder is paid for using the included £117 voucher). You may be able to reduce the amount of pages per month giving more than 13 months - this is to be confirmed.

You can also claim 3 years warranty at no extra cost again direct from HP (details are on the printer box or see my images in the initial post).

Perfect thankyou very much u are the best Norse

Can anyone confirm that you will be able to move down to say 100 pages a month using the credit of £117?

Set it up with 4 months trial + 2 Month code + 1 month code. That takes me till the middle of May 2018. Used the £7.99 for 300 pages - it showed 500 pages on the £117 code card but doesn't show on line when you order??
So in total I will have 300 pages per month for 21.5 months. Happy days.

Hi Gordo1964,
Sorry, appears that I can receive PMs but cannot send PMs for some reason.
Have just ordered the 8728 with 4 month Instant Ink.
Would really appreciate if you could PM me those codes for an extra 2months plus extra month code and how to input them. Many thanks

Did exactly the same with mine earlier and all went smoothly. So looks like you can choose what ever plan you want against the £117 voucher, light users could get over 3 years with the 100 page plan and additional 2+1 month codes.

Edit: I can confirm that this also works with the 100 page plan, as I have just set one up for a friend. Also the extended 3 year warranty and £20 cashback went through no problem.

Thanks! This is a brilliant deal, I've just reserved one for collection tomorrow.

I previously bought the HP Envy 4527 with 4 months free instant ink for about £35 from Argos. I thought that was reasonably good value (it was a lot cheaper than buying new ink cartridges for my old printer) and I've been fairly pleased with the instant ink service. The 4 months free ink runs out on Sunday, so this is perfect timing.

It's been a long day, so my maths might be off, but by my reckoning £35 over 4 months is £8.75 per month, so on my current 300 page plan that works out at £0.029 per page.
On this deal, £79.99 (with the cashback) over 13 months is £6.15 per month, so on the 500 page plan that would be £0.012 per page, even cheaper on a lower monthly plan .

(Just to put it in perspective, I'm in my final year of university and my university charges 5p/page for A4 black and white printing, and 25p/page for colour. If I was ever stupid enough to print 500 pages on campus, that would cost me between £25 and £125!)

In my box I had 2 of the prepaid sheets with 2 different codes on. It is showing as £234 credit. Wonder if it will stay like that

Thanks for your reply. I have a card that mentions the 4 month trial on 1 side and has a list of the plans on the other side. No mention of any code. Currys told me to set it up and it will give me the additional code on the setup. Does that sound right?
