Guys I just came to John Lewis in Oxford Street London and this laptop is £599 . At least here they have 7 units. I think is a good price for the specs. It's also available by internet.

"Gaming Laptop" oxymoron

No it isn't. You can game on it and it's a laptop.

Depends how many seconds you wish to save waiting for it to finish encoding etc

I think you will find that HQ processors are Quad Core, it even says Quad Core on the John Lewis website! The i5 7300HQ is only 3% slower than an i7 7700HQ, so there is nothing wrong with the i5 processor.

Perfect for Kodi on the move.

You don't need to spend £599 for Kodi on the move...

Nonsense a 1050ti is faster than a PS4 Pro. A 1050 is only slightly behind.

In short you will have no problem running the latest games at medium or even high settings at 1080p.

You only really need the extra horsepower if you're running at 1440p and above.

Maybe you should update your driver's mate, something seriously wrong if your having issues.

Looks great for the price. Shame it's not just £25-£50 more but with a 1050ti
i5 7th generation and NVIDA1050, Full HD, reviews seem decent online... for the price is good, bear in mind you can replace with an SSD and up the RAM later on.

Is this good for 4k video editing?
Also available bundled with a HP Deskjet wireless printer for £619.94
Blinding price!

You can get a android tablet and install kodi from the Google play store.

yes it would run it no problem but on low settings
That's a pretty good spec laptop and a good card in there.
This would run anything you throw at it.

I would call the card average at best. However the price is good.
Very good price for a half decent gaming laptop with a 1050! Hot.
Well I went for one plus you get two years warranty I will up the ram to 16 and put a SSD in at some point.
How easy are these to add an SSD in (as opposed to replacing the HD with an SSD)? Anyone have experience with doing this with an HP OMEN?
Other sites are saying 128gb SSD as well as the 1tb hardrive?
I googled this 1DK84EA#ABU
I have a Dell mobile workstation powered by a i5-6440HQ.

I can see four cores in Device manager. Some i7s only have two cores.

This, with the free two year warranty is an absolute steal.

You can add another two years plus accidental damage, taking the warranty and accidental damage to four years for £65. That looks a pretty good deal to me.

Looking at some of the other models, you may well be able to add an M2 ssd to this. 8GB RAM is fine for most people.

My only real question is about the size of the battery. Quad core processors and dedicated graphics can eat power.
Would this run Player Unknown Battlegrounds at decent settings?

Says 11hrs battery not sure that's for gaming.
I think you can add a additional SSD without touching the 1tb.
Other websites with same model also showing just the 1TB drive.

The extra 2 year warranty is pointless though if you modify the laptop as it wont be covered which is a real shame.

If you've added RAM or an m2 SSD, just remove it. They are the only changes one is likely to make.

275GB MX300 m.2 is £89.99 on Amazon.

Get an SSD, it's the best upgrade anyone can do. It'll be the sluggish hard drive making it feel slow.

Im thinking they will have a warranty sticker over it so you cant open it and when they come to fix it, and there is no OS on it (as its on the removed SSD!) they may question it

Excellent specs and build for this price. People who are not getting enough performance out of this, check if something is wrong in drivers etc as mine runs absolutely great in games :-)
Got the 202na version from Microsoft store for 666. That has a 128gb ssd. I am confused now. Should I return that for this and get 2 yrs warranty or keep the SSD.

I'd imagine you would be on low settings, Battlegrounds is poorly optimised at the minute but it will get better with time. Type '1050 battlegrounds' into youtube and see the results.
Will it take 32gb memory.

How good would this be for my son who is 12 as an introduction to gaming on a computer. He's desperate for a gaming laptop. Thanks

What kind of games were you trying to run that made you think the performance was poor on this laptop?
