Now, for the laptop alone at £799.99, i'd not be overly struck, but looking on the JL site shows a couple of bundles with a Free Mixed Reality Headset. If you check out the headset page there's a link showing:

"Claim £50 cashback on the HP Windows Mixed Reality Headset when bought with any HP device over £779" - Info here

So yeah.. Laptop, Mixed reality headset, 3 Years guarantee + You should be able to get £50 cash back, sounds decent. Also Free del (which you'd hope for when spending this kinda cash)

Scroll down and add the bundle here - 2855139.jpg

Intel Core i5
8GB RAM
1TB HDD
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050
15.6” Screen - FHD IPS

Bang & Olufsen; HP Audio Boost; Dual speakers

Would a 1050 be good enough for VR? I only ask as that’s what I have at the moment and assumed I’d need something better to play VR games
Cluster can play VR with the lowest card 1050ti...but it won't be good. Mixed reality VR require low specification. I reckon it can be played using 1050. I won't bet on it though. It would not be a pleasant with only 2gb of vram

Depends how you're using it I guess. Personally with this bundle, I'd use the headset for my other PC for gaming. But there are some demos of people using the 1050 for gaming with the Lenovo Equivalent of this headset.

Depends what your watching/playing. Something like Arizona Sunshine requires at least a GTX1060 3gb on Windows Mixed Reality. WMR headsets aren't really designed for gaming anyway, for less demanding stuff the 1050 should be ok.
Cheers for the advice peeps
Is this something like the Microsoft holo lens but lower spec. I used the Holo lens for work related stuff and it was experimental and waste of money in my opinion.
A bit pricey.
A 1050 wont be good enough for true VR. Should be good for AR though.

Seems pricey for a 1050 though

Looking at ebay the Hp mixed reality headsets selling upwards of £200 so if your not bothered about the headset but want a good entry level gaming laptop potentially nets the laptop down to £599.99 or £549.99 if you can claim the £50 and sell the headset on eBay. I’d still prefer a 1050 Ti or 1060 but great deal hot.
Not even an SSD with it?
Helloo, Im just gonna leave this here asa FYI, I have dell 7567 and both HP and Samsung odyssey mixed reality headsets. First of all. If its an option get samsung odyssey. its 10x more immersive than hp. quality difference on screen and lenses are crazy. but hp has removable cable and visor tilts up which is handy sometimes. Also, Im very dissatisfied with 1050ti performance with VR tbh. Im thinking 1060(non max-q) or even a 1070-max-q minimum to have actual fun with these headsets. Microsoft likes to throw in these headsets to make it more accessible but honestly if youre getting it for VR, don't Unless you want it to sit on the shelf. I tried VR and actually its amazing its so much fun but its really disappointing 1050ti can't cope with full fledged VR games. maybe simple ones and basic shooters but nothing like fallout VR or doom VFR esp at these crazy resolutions at 90FPS. so thats my very long 2 cents =) So for this 1050, its a no no. =)

Yea I'm the same as you. Hate VR and Mr for some reasons. Gaming laptop for me personally should be at least 1050ti(budget) or 1060(optimum). Any higher or lower is kinda meh for me. 1070/1080 laptop is too expensive that I would prefer to build a desktop angle get a laptop with mx150 instead or 1050ti. Lower than 1050ti is meh because I find that 1050ti performance on laptop is just acceptable.
(Possible noob question) Is this laptop capable of outputting 4k video via HDMI to my 4k TV?

I'm looking for an upgrade my current laptop can't do it (Dell Inspiron 7373) max 1080p
I have a budget of £400 for my son. Can somebody help me find a laptop that would play garrys mod please.

1060 is supposed to the min spec for Steam VR which is where most of the VR content for WMR is. So this is a bit of a strange combo IMO as 1050 is really too low for VR

I think yours is the better bet. 256GB SSD, 4gb version of the 1050. In terms of the two VR headsets, the Dell one is comfier whereas the HP has better image quality.

They all use exactly the same optics and Sharp LCD panels, the only one that has a much better image is the Samsung with it's OLED screen and better optics.
For those with Student Beans accounts, the Dell deal going hot today seems like a better idea than this (though without VR, or a little more £ if you get the Dell VR set)
Guys just saying but HP have been getting great from media because they had spyware on laptops.
Do I need a latest gen core i7 to play 2160p hevc files smoothly?
FYI, according to several reviews, the screen on this model is shocking. You want the 120hz screen
keylogger...mmmmm yeaaah...geT iiin

hot deal though

yes it would be fine, although the 1050 is low end of that range, the 10 series is optimised for VR. So even a low end 10 series would beat a 980ti on performance. I have owned a 980ti, 1060, & 1080.
Considering buying this (because its a good deal, and John lewis 3 year warranty), but read many posts about HP products overheating due to poor design, or their build quality being poor.
I don't need a gaming laptop, a lighter laptop with less capable GPU(like mx150) would be ideal, but cant find them yet. May be I should wait.
Heat added.
