Best from the East is back again. COLD!

Haha
This is a great deal for a 120hz laptop imo
I was thinking of getting his laptop, but couldn’t decide between the dell 7577 similar specs and Alienware. Is this cold because it’s rubbish in comparison, thanks
Original Poster
Bryngreen I thought so too and I can vouch for the quality of the laptop and the screen, the thermals are great too.

This is better than the 7577 simply because of the quality of the screen.

Not sure on the alienware but they are pricey.

I would touch the Dell tbh, the screen is awful.

This is a very well reviewed laptop, if a tad pricey even with the discount

FYI you can bundle the VR headset and get the 10% discount. Sell the headset and bring the price of the laptop to under a grand

U can try to sell the headset but be careful there isnt many people wanting to to buy a VR headset anymore, and the ones who are will be getting it cheaper than you will sell it. Also, you will need to put more money upfront and then it may take a long time to sell the headset even if you manage to.
This seems to be a great deal (maybe add another stick of ram in), so could anyone explain why it's cold?

Yeah, they're not selling for as much as they were at the start of the year but you'll get £170/£180 for it which will bring the price down below a grand.

The headset bundle with the 10% discount comes to £1162

It's a bit of a ballache but worth it if you want to save a few quid

Because it's a 1060 laptop for over a grand.

Thing is you can get the ASUS GL502VM (same spec bar the 120hz screen) for about £970 on Amazon and 1060 laptops do regularly go below the grand mark now so the price is a little high.

Having said that, some peoples price expectations are way off for this spec of laptop.

That's the thing, for people who enjoy competitive FPS games like overwatch or csgo the extra refresh rate of the screen will make this completely worth it, and a good deal. The reason for this getting cold is people who don't consider the 120hz screen voting cold based purely off the hardware,, despite it being a good deal when you factor in the excellent screen and build quality (according to numerous online reviews)

The build quality is excellent. I had the 17" version (the John Lewis deal with tbe headset for a grand) and couldnt fault the build on that. Top notch. Had to send it back for other reasons

I'm going to hold out for the 16gb + 256gb ssd version to come down in price a bit i think. Cant be arsed adding the extra ram etc myself, im nowhere near competant enough lol

You literally just unscrew the lid and put it in
Just to add a correction on this. The link goes to the HP 15-ce013na- which is indeed £1,034.10.

However this deal is listed at the top of the page as the HP 15-ce003na- which is actually £1,124.10.

I was looking at the Omens last night and was tempted but 1/ Can't decide if I can justify getting a headset I'm not sure I need. 2/ I'm not sure if the headsets are actually much good, having read mixed reviews. 3/ I did pick up a 17" Omen from John Lewis some time ago but took it back because I had concerns about the hinge. I was unconvinced about the long term viability of the central single hinge and the size and weight of the screen. It just gave me the nagging feeling it was a point of failure that when it did break HP would tell me to Foxtrot Oscar because it was not a warranty issue and was user abuse.

However, it was a nice machine and I'm still tempted by it and the VR even though I don't need it and it may be wrong!

Easier said than done. Especially when you have shaky hands and a tendency to break anything even remotely electrical.

The £1,124 price for the 003 doesn't include the headset AFAIK. Nor does the 013

yeah, the lid on the 17" was the only downside in the build quality - it was pointed out in the Notebookcheck review - but I think the 15" might be better because there's less mass/weight for the hinge to take? No problems with the hinge were mentioned in the 15" review iirc.
Can this laptop play all latest titles above 60fps with reasonable graphic ?
Original Poster
I'm managing 60+ on GTAV on high, kingdom come on low bearing in mind it is terribly optimised, Borderlands on max. I'd say it will happily run the latest games and not drop below 60 on high+ settings

Also because of the GSync screen even on frame drops/spikes you don't notice because it smooths it out.

This is cold and for good reason ... paying 1k for a laptop is ridiculous... this laptop should cost 500 even 250 or even 100 ... let us vote for cheaper laptops!!!

Yes, sorry, reading back it seems I didn't make myself clear because I segued into talking about the VR headsets having pointed out that the original post was pointing to the wrong model.

I should have made clearer what I meant when talking about the headset. I wasn't intending to suggest this deal had a headset included

£100!?? The SSD alone would set you back more than that.

I agree laptops are overly expensive, but come on....

What about this one4k screen but only …What about this one4k screen but only 1050http://store.hp.com/UKStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=2CS29EA&opt=ABU&mastersku=2CS29EA&masteropt=ABU&sel=NTB&

4K's good if you do graphic design/photography/content creation but for gaming you're going to need way more grunt than a 1050.

You're better off looking for a decent 1080p screen paired with a 1060 (or 1050ti at a push)
