No optical drive (some of us still have software on CD/DVD and burn discs) and generally very poor construction. If you want something better built go for ASUS or MSI.

I can't even understand why anymore.

If you are looking for a laptop with a DVD/CD drive then you are looking at a business laptop. There is almost zero need for most users to have any form of optical drive.

Every brand has a budget range be it Asus or MSI or HP. These aren't a high quality product but the specification for money is good.

Everyone should note: The screens on these laptops are poor as with most of the budget gaming laptops we have seen a rise in.

Just an observation, a lot of business spec laptops in the last few years have started doing away with optical drives.

They're fast becoming redundant.

Optical drive? If you do still use cd/dvds surely it makes more sense to get a slimmer laptop and get a USB optical drive which can be had for very little money for the few times that they are still needed...

I have one of these laptops and I wouldn't say the screen is poor, it is the best screen you are going to get for the money, it is an IPS panel and looks good. Unless you are using the laptop for business where you need 100% colour accuracy then you wouldn't be looking to buy this anyway or you would be spending a lot more.

People keep saying hp screens are poor which has put me off buying but I went into pc world and the screen looked better then the rest oO
Although it does have a shiny glass type of screen which can be a problem with reflection but the actual reading and watching movies looked much more crisper the rest.
Am I wrong ?

Edit, I'm referring to the envy model but I assume this is similar
