I have been watching the GTX1060 120Hz version of this on Amazon for a few months, previously £1299.00 was the cheapest I had seen it but it has just dropped to £ 999.00. There are a few on Ebay but the guarantee from Amazon sells it for me personally. Only 7th gen i7 but will do for some.

There were 6 in stock last night when I ordered however it now says dispatched in 2-3 days at the time of writing this.

Hopefully helps someone out, any moaners keep it to yourself..................

Great deal. I'm on my way to saving £1000 for a gaming laptop. not far off now maybe a month or 2. I hope something like this is available come that time. For portability reasons it has to be a laptop for working and a bit of gaming.
Had this on my watch list on Amazon for some time. Was waiting so it drops to this sort of price untill the other day were I did not want to wait any longer and decided to go for ASUS GL702VM-GC137T ROG which was just under £1000. It will be delivered today looking at the tracking info. Any chance I could get this returned and pick up this one ?

amazon brilliant for returns you will be fine
Good deal, hard to find a 17inch with these specs at this price. Wonder why these high end laptops don't have 16gb ram as standard thoo

Why? What's wrong with the Asus? There's hardly any difference spec wise?
Great laptop and it's good to see one of these with an SSD at a reasonable price.

Watch out for screen bleed though. The Omen 17 is notorious for it.

The Asus is a i5-7300HQ also quad core but It doesnt have the hyperthread technology as the Omen i7-7000HQ. Also a dealbreaker for me would be the 120hz screen the Omen offers. Else, like you say I dont think theres much difference. Im just thinking now wether or not I should send this Asus back and get this one. I like the slim smaller build on the Asus. Any recommendations?
8gb ram can we upgrade to 16gb?

Of course, just add 8gb (there's free slot).

I would personally go for HP because of the processor and the screen...

I would personally go for HP because of the processor and the screen...

Im not sure if there will be a big difference between the processors. Both quad core 7th gen. I dont play much games on the laptop, i dont know wether the hyperthread will make a big difference. 120hz screen will be nice to have but i can see quite a few people talking about the screen bleed on the omens. Both have thunderbolt/usb 3.1 connections. I dont know, quite a hard choice to make since the Asus is more portable/slim and the omen just looks to plasticy..

btw Asus just got delivered while writing this up, im keen on opening up the box but i dont know .. hows the Amazon returns.. if i message them would they just put a exchange in or do i need to return, wait, get a refund then make another purchase once they gey this Asus back ? Just thinking by all then, this omen price might go back up again.
Keep Asus if you don't play much games & need more portable laptop...
All gone

Not worth it at all. Bitcoins are mined using specialist hardware now (asics). Even mining eth would be pointless on a gaming laptop.

Turned the screen up to 100Hz.

Oh I don't work for Lenovo! But the company I work for has am employee savings programme so you get some deals.

That being said, I think lenovo do a student discount via student beans which might work on it, I don't know

Ahh ok, fair enough. Nice baggins
Stonking deal, love these new omens.
This better than Dell Alienware 17r4?
This the same one that came with a free vr headset and controllers from john lewis a few weeks ago..? Man, that was a bargain... its sat in front of me now. Best laptop i’ve ever had
I swear now much more worthy to playing on gaming laptop than desktop, because the friggin' miners can't put 10 graphic cards in.
Currently at £1099 from 3rd party sellers due to stock. Do you guys still think this is worth it?

I like it. I think for that price range its one of the best 17" you can find. I like the build quality, screen is nice and all quick i5 quad core. If you havent decided yet, go for it
