Lenovo 320S is £480 and has same specs except 8GB RAM. Got one for the missus, can confirm it's a nice machine. These HPs also look good though, with a nice range of connections: pcworld.co.uk/gbu…tml

IMO probably worth the extra £11

according to HP the SRP is only £500 so don't see how your saving over £200.

I got that one and returned it after a week of using it. The design looks nice and all but little things annoyed the heck out of me so had to give it back. Since the laptop base is plastic and metal on top, if you leave your arm on right side of the touchpad it creaks! It may be temporary till the chasis gets used a little but was so annoying. Another thing was the damn fan blowing constantly. I did all the updates etc remove all the preinstalled bloatware (candycrush and whatnot) just keeping minimal. The fan starts blowing when I am using firefox on 2 tabs (vid on 1 other browsing). It wasn't a quiet blowing I could hear it through my "cheap" inear earphones.
Should have 8GB RAM at this price range HP, tight @rse.

The fan blowing like mad happens on the Mrs Dell, that has 8th gen I7, I wonder if it has anything to do with 8th gen processors?

No clue about the 8th gen but I was upgrading from my old 4th gen laptop afters years and that thing is quiet with 10 tabs on firefox. I use desktop mainly so wanted something mid range, gonna wait for bigger range of 8th before buying.
It’s almost certainly to do with CPU heat.
7th Gen is 2 Core - 4 Threads - 3MB Cache - 7.5-25W TDP
8th Gen is 4 Core - 8 Threads - 6MB Cache - 10W-25W TDP

As you can see you got twice as much hardware with a 30% increase in base TDP so in something as compact as a laptop the heat buildup will be greater.

See this link to compare 2 common Core i5 chips in laptops: Intel Ark
4GB RAM? Not enough these days.
Bought the silk gold version HP 14-bk152sa. Looks great.
