Far better laptops out there for a similar price, so this is cold for me I'm afraid. Only 4GB of RAM too....

Similar spec (15.6") HP from Very for £20 less here

This is a 15 inch so apples to oranges. If you are going to vote cold at least make it comparable

Stop being an idiot. A small difference in screen size when all other specs are the same is hardly comparing apples and oranges. Besides, that's not why I voted cold - I voted cold because (as I said) there are many better options for a similar price. A simple search on this site will show better value alternatives

And i am the idiot? You want me to do a search and then drill down into specs to compare it to this. Why didn't you post them then if you bothered to comment! Clown
You always get more for your money if the laptop is 15.6", Buy normally the screens aren't as good.

That said for £300 I'd be wanting at least an i3 processor.

I don't want you to do anything - but yes, that's one way of doing it. Or you can just click on the "laptop" link at the top of this page and just scroll and read. Why should I have to post links? You're not a baby! (though I do wonder)
Would hope to get more for my money - spec is not very future proof and looks quite limited
The i3 is surely a much better buy for £350
Why are the still making pentium’s

The reality is that most people who have an i series laptop probably use most of their time surfing, emails and word. You really don’t need 4 cores 8 threads. Laptop cores by intel are without a doubt the biggest con since bottled water. Prior to the 8th gen inte chips even the i7 was a 2 core cpu.

Desktop wise the intel g4400 was one of the best value chips there was.
This is not a Black Friday sale it was 299 on the 15th Nov by Currys. You really have to check product history.
my opinion, nowadays we should expect laptop have min 8gb ram and 256gb ssd to smoothly in daily task
The processor in this doesn't score very well on benchmark giving an overall rating of 3540. To be fair though the i37020U in the Dell laptop on offer at Very for similar money only scores 3520 and same with the Lenovo at that price.

This is better than the one posted and same screen size so like for like but is £30.00 more but has 8gb RAM and much faster processor scoring 5019 on benchmark.

It is always the same with computing as there is always something better for a bit more and no doubt for £30.00 more than the one I picked there will be something with a 256gb and then for £60.00 more you can get an i5 and then before you know you have doubled your budget lol. I think within 10% is allowable.

I have a surface pro which is a works laptop and used 8 hours daily. It works just fine running a 128gb ssd with 8gb ram. Depends what you are using it for as most people these days seem to want 1tb or more, or at least they do when I post a decent deal for a 500gb ssd lol.
This maybe isn’t the place to post this but here goes... my 17 year old is desperate for a new laptop to complete his college assignments. I am totally clueless what to buy and was hoping for some advice from anyone willing to help ? Black Friday deals ?? The budget I have is around £300 ish Thanks in advance

If you can stretch, the one @Smartguy1 had mentioned above is a superb buy.
It was a hot deal and only just come back in stock.
