White, purple, red, blue, silver all same price .
1366 x 768 and no dedicated graphics. Not amazing, really.
It doesn't really matter how much it was at this retailer. It could be worth 10k 5years ago but nothing today. What matters is how much elsewhere now.

Not looking, not investigating and not voting. Good luck OP.
Then why comment??
how does this pc stack up guys is it a decent buy - have some xmas spare cash to spend so fancy a new lappy -not looking for something top end but if theres a better deal for this kind of money please advise
Was £599...when they artificially inflated the price.
As with a lot of HP laptops from Currys/PCWorld, you can't find the exact same model anywhere else (guessing it's a deal between HP and the retailer), so hard to compare prices with anywhere else.
What you can see is that the HP website has this listed with a recommended selling price of £400, which is virtually what they are selling it for.
Certainly no bargain, just paying what it's worth.

To be fair, the Intel integrated graphics have come a long way in the last few years, so some modern games are still playable with low/medium settings.
Still think it's hard to find a 6th gen i5 with 8gb ram and 2tb hdd for much cheaper? The screen is not great but almost every laptop in this kind of range are lacking 1080 resolutions
Currys make the manufacturers have a different product number for them on some items like laptops/kitchen appliances so that you can't price compare

All I can see is the 12GB vs 8GB and 1TB vs 2TB so I'd think More Ram and Less Storage is better than Less Ram and More Storage? I am not an expert but if someone else can help us out. I am looking for a sub £400 laptop too :-)
I would like this one Star Wars Special Editionhttp://brain-images.cdn.dixons.com/3/3/10139833/l_10139833_009.jpg
Full HD screen and dedicated NVIDIA graphics but £600 for 6GB Ram...

Essentially its better to have more RAM than to have a bigger hard drive. The analogy is that the RAM is the equivalent of short term memory and the hard drive is long term memory. When you're trying to carry out a task; ie play a game or making a word document, the laptop dumps the information into RAM first and then when you want to save something it commits it to the hard drive. Therefore the more RAM you have available the better you're laptop can handle demanding applications and software more easily.

Its also worth noting however that the i5 processor in the one on the HP website has an older and slightly slower processing speed compared to the one on the PC World/Curry's website.

anyone?
Just wondering which one you went for in the end?

I had exactly the same dilemma, (HP Pavilion 15-ab254sa vs 15-ab237na) and ended up going for the 15-ab254sa 15.6" Laptop which is being delivered today.

Main reason for going for this one was because I got so stressed with the decision making (anyone ever seen Big Bang Theory with the scene where Sheldon can't choose between PS4 and Xbox One?!) , so I went for the one I had seen 1st!

I don't think I'd be disappointed with either for the money & probably wouldn't notice any difference between them anyway for my use.

Hi,How does this laptop compare to the HP pavilion 15-p251na?

The HP Pavilion 15-ab254sa has 8GB RAM with 2TB storage. The 15-ab237na has 16m GB RAM but 1TB storage.

Both have Windows 10 (rather than 8 as on the 15-p251na you mention) & Intel i5 rather than AMD processor but the 15-ab237na is the older i5-5200U where as the 15-ab254sa has the newer i5-6200U Processor. I don't know how either compare to the AMD A10 which is on the 15-p251na (so sorry - not very helpful!)

My HP Pavilion 15-ab254sa arrived yesterday, and although early days, I'm very happy with it so far.

The differences are 8GB vs 12GB 2TB vs 1TB and the important one i5 5200 vs i5 6200

i5 6200 is good eventhough it has 8GB RAM. if SSD then definitely SSD is good. As far as these two HP Pavilion 15-ab254sa is good.
