It's saying "hey HP, what were you thinking giving me such awesome specs but adding such a sh¡t screen resolution?

Now that looks a deal. Impressed by how much more battery life the 7th gen i5 is bringing over the 6th. Though be good if they could decide if that one has 8 or 9 hours, but with 5 and 6 seemingly common on 6200u laptops either way it's nice improvement.

It's nice but why do they bother with CD/DVD drives, I'd so much rather have a bigger battery or a smaller/lighter footprint

Hi, I'm looking for a good laptop but I'm getting confused with what's good and what isn't. I thought an i5 or i7 is what I should be looking for but I'm seeing loads of posts and comments saying about 5th generation, 6th generation etc and I was wondering if someone could explain that to me please- like how do I know what generation an i5 or i7 is? I try and find it in the specs online for all the different laptops but I'm obviously missing something because I can't find it :(. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I think the first digit in the CPU code following the generic type signifies the generation, in this case i3-7100U is a 7th gen i3. However you say a "good" laptop but don't mention what it's for. The CPU gen alone isn't going to help you choose. There are plenty of other factors to consider. If you gave some idea of budget and what the main priorities for the machine were I'm sure people would help you. For example, battery life, storage space, speed, gaming, portability etc. Hope this helps.

Can some kind soul tell me if this is better than this one hotukdeals.com/dea…748

Id like some help with this too if pos. wasted from midnight Thursday 4am on trying to get a Dell. So I've noticed a few HP deals. Saw this I store today.

I just need a quick machine for browsing, iTunes, music storage, movies and photos. Got a 6 year old Packard netbook now but slowly dying! Help.

Actually I may just stick to the Lenovo one as it comes with 2 year guarantee and works out to be cheaper than the HP even after adding 256gb ssd.

This one is faster, has a more economical CPU so will likely have a better battery life and also is DDR4 compatible. I am on the hunt for a cheapish laptop for the little one, and had a play around with the Ideapad 310 today in Currys and must admit, although cheap, it definitely feels cheap. Plastics not very well refined and feel flimsy in parts.

1.15% topcashback, not much but every little helps!

Oh dear, now I'm a little confused about what to do

Do you know if you can get extended warranty on these?

Ok so I'm looking for a laptop to edit videos & use photoshop. Been told to get 8gb ram with ssd hard drive. So many choices and opinions but this looks to tick my boxes and I may take the plunge unless anyone has reason to change my mind...? Oh budget around £500

The generation is in the first number of the processor. 6500u would be sixth gen (i7), 7200u would be 7th (i5), 5005u fifth gen (i3)

Does anyone know whether this Full-HD (1920 x 1080) display comes with a TN or IPS panel? Thanks.

How is the i5 version compared to this one? Can someone please help me to decide which is better.

If you don't need the extra storage space on the HDD and you have no plans to upgrade the Asus with an SSD I would personally much rather have the HP. If you've ever used a computer with an SSD you would see how much quicker it is for general usage and boot times.
