I'm no expert, so I haven't voted yet, but I'm inclined to think this is hot. It's only a 1650, but it's also only £649.

Just noticed that it comes with six months free Spotify too which is quite a nice little perk.
Does this include a 1 TB HDD? If not, could it be added and how much for the price?
This is what I've been looking for, quick question, does it have a second hd bay in it?
Edited by: "vicinity" 26th Dec 2019
It doesn't include a TB HDD and I'd surprised if there wasn't a slot for a second HD but I don't know for sure, unfortunately.
Is this basically exactly the same as the HP Pavilion 15-dk0011na Gaming Laptop, Intel i5 Processor, 8GB, 256GB SSD, 15.6" Full HD, Shadow Black listed on John Lewis for £50 more? May be worth trying to get them to price match, only thing is the model number at Currys is slightly different even though the specs look exactly the same.

You'd be lucky to get it price-matched if the model numbers are different. It's their "get out" and it's usually something tiny like one of the USB slots is 2/3, or lid colour is different. I know Currys wouldn't, John Lewis might be better.

That's what I thought too, but I've tried it, I'll post here on their decision.

My fingers are crossed for you.

If I were you I'd compare the exact spec of each (screen res, type, USB slots, other input and output, and then obviously parts). The less differences between them the better, so if they say no, you could try to argue that the laptop is the same and the code is only different because the manufacturer does it to trace the retailer.

If not, don't JL have 2 year warranty? £50 isn't much more for that. And you could look into getting fit cards cheap online.
Same goes for Currys though so you could probably get even cheaper from Currys, and there's more Currys stores to pick up from which might make it easier for you. The only risk with gift cards that is that if you have any issues and you get refunded, it goes to a gift card.
On Currys Ebay page exact same laptop same price same everything....... but on ebay says it includes a 1TB HDD where as this one doesn't......

one of them possibly isn't telling the truth
Would this be capable of pc vr?

Looking at the versions you can get (e.g. the I7 variants) there are versions that come with a 1TB HDD as well as the SSD, so I'd assume that the same chassis is used in all cases - meaning you could just open the bottom of this and add another drive without a problem. Although not this exact model, this review seems to be the same family and there are some detailed pics of the chassis in there, clearly showing the additional drive bay.

Apparently not although it might be capable of running less demanding VR games; having said that I personally wouldn't buy a 1650 laptop for VR games. You're better off looking for something with a 1660ti in it.

tested that out but the cashback link is specific to 7 crappy HP monitors via both quidco and topcashback. its not for anything else seemingly despite the link description "laptops and monitors"
On the topcashback site If you click on "Windows laptop over £499" £30 cashback. This model does show up on the results. Not going to get 15% off here.

It has m2 NVMe ssd, you can add second ssd in the spare sata 3 bay but it has to be 7mm depth

I've clicked the link sometimes in the past, then searched the laptop and added it to the basket and it's tracked.
Sometimes if it doesn't, I open a claim and it has worked 100% of the time lol

Worth a shot sometimes haha
Will this laptop be good enough for flight sims? In particular the upcoming FS 2020? Looking for a laptop that's good at photo editing for the Mrs and gaming for myself, it'll be the only way I can convince her to go halfs

Personally I’d go for something with at least a 1660ti. And even then I doubt it will be good enough to run FS2020 to any decent standard. I’ve got a i5-9300h laptop with 16Gb ram and a 1660ti and it’s great for X-Plane 11 with custom scenery. But FS2020 is next level
What's the screen like on this. Very tempted. Quidco have 15% off HP gaming laptops too.

Thanks for that, probably worth waiting around for an i7, will be interesting to see the minimum requirements for fs2020 closer to the release

Good for amateurs.
We had 1060 laptops two years ago for this money, amazing that we've gone backwards performance wise for the same price.

Ah, matey, tell me about it! Laptop prices at the moment are awful! It's even more annoying when you look at how much they cost in the States by comparison - sales tax or no sales tax, prices here are still terrible.
On again
HP (Heap Poo) avoid ..nothing but bother with this laptop been back to Poland twice for repair just out of guarantee now some of the keys do not work ...going in the bin
