Yes, it's £50 more than the Blue and Purple versions posted a couple of days ago;
hotukdeals.com/tag/dea…021
..but the stock seems to be somewhat questionable, despite a claim disputing this.

- Windows 8.1
- Intel® Core™ i5-4288U Processor

Better off with the touchscreen version for £279 at pc world (not i5)?

Agree. What's the point of 8.1 without a touchscreen and also this doesn't have full HD and I'd much prefer a smaller SSD inside rather than that 10x slower hard drive - heat anyway for allowing me to make these comments

same price as a month ago ( that's when I got mine )

I don't care, I'm checking this out! hot

Matter of opinion I guess, but for me I wanted the i5 and not the i3 or AMD.

Also, i use Windows 8 with the application 'Classic Shell', essentially making it run like Windows 7 but with the benefits of faster boot times and capability of running Windows 8 apps if I wish.

Is the memory upgradable? and if so to what?

is it worth? ? especially it being a refurb.....whats the condition of it?

Reportedly brand new - but just not in official packaging. I haven't seen any reports of any laptops with damage or signs of use....and lots of people are saying they still have that 'new smell' !

I received in excellent condition but no smell of brand new found .. These are customer returns for some reasons

I've had bad experience with Currys refurbs, was a long time ago, though, maybe they have improved. If refurb I would want it with Windows 7 and not 8 ('Classic Shell' isn't a solution for me). The specs are good on paper. Not voting this time.

refurbished laptops alwaysshould be 150 pounds. I5 s

ordered... couldn't bring myself to order one of those garish coloured ones, so well worth the extra £50

Thanks OP. Ordered, just sorry I was too late for the £50 cheaper one

It came just like new , it looked like no one even used it , smelled like new. But it did not come in original packaging

So I guess I can add another 8gb RAM, to make it 16GB in total?

I think so , but not really sure and why would you need 16GB? 8 is far enought

enough

I need to run some VMs, so the more the better, :-)

That's not the right one anyway. think op was reffering to this deal...

For the specs this is still a really decent deal especially if you were unfortunate to miss out on the £250 deals, although the colour is a lot nicer on the White. Heat.

8.1 is fine without touch screen hahaha

I missed out on the £250 blue HP Pavilion my order was cancelled. Was given 10% off this, hoping it's a good deal for £270. Time will tell.

It's a great deal for 270

I placed order, but the 10% didn't work, it said the promotion ended. damn,

No code. I rang them to complain because my order for the blue HP was cancelled.

What's the point of a brain if you don't use it?

probably not

I was lucky enough to get the cheaper £250 one two days ago..it is an absolute steal! I would gladly pay the extra 50..some people on the previous thread were complaining about no left and right click on the mouse pad, rest assured if you press down on the bottom of the mouse pad it acts as a left and right click..Windows 8.1 is superb..very quiet and fast..no complaints..although it came in a standard box it's seems to be brand new.

Will this play the recent Telltale games? Walking Dead, Game of Thrones. Seems like a decent machine for video editing, especially when hooked up to a monitor, so if I could do a bit of gaming on it as well I'd be happy with it. I don't need Crysis 3.

I bought this on an equivalent deal a year ago and have had no regrets. as good as brand new. buy with confidence

Touchscreens give the processor more work to do, so not really recommended. I got a replacement from HP when I bought a laptop that was advertised as having a graphics card that it didn't and they sent me a touchscreen one (though it had a far better spec and full HD so not complaining).

One thing I will say is that ive found HP customer services to be great at resolving issues.

The Iris graphics are equivalent of a 640M, so should cope with Telltale games (can play Far Cry 3 on low to medium with good fps)

have ordered this at £270 after not recieving the purple one in previous post. Hoping they can follow through with this one as you can still order on the website but the CS lady said they don't have any in stock.. they are waiting for orders to bulk buy from HP directly. I hope for their sake i get this one.

I think that is just a lazy excuse given by some manufacturer's. Things like the Surface Pro 3 show that high quality/high resolution touchscreen's with v.v.good digitiser's can also get superb battery life.
In fact, I own an Asus Transformer Windows tablet which has the same innards as most other tablets. Yet this one gets nearly 10 hours of battery life, where most others are 6-8 hours. It has got to that kind of battery life via a constant stream of bios/firmware updates and optimisations.
In short, a touchscreen may consume a little extra power - but in the grand scheme of things, it is much more preferable to have a touchscreen on Windows 8.1 than to not have one.

You may be right and it's only what I've read. I do know that I hardly ever use the touchscreen on my laptop. I have a Linx 8 Windows tablet and it works well on there but I find the laptop is always in desktop mode anyway.

OOS

I took delivery of this toady.

Certainly doesn't look new. Its a little dirty near the disk drive and on the sides. Debating whether or not to send it back.

I paid £270, great spec for the money but unsure was hoping it would look new (yes I know it's refurbished)

Got mine on Friday, it's looks completely new no marks or dirt. An absolute steal
